Clare Bird Sightings

Wednesday 4th December 2013

A white-phased Gyrfalcon was seen at Clahane north of Liscannor just before 9.30 this morning.(Geoff Pearson). The bird flew off after being mobbed by Hooded Crows at 9.40. It was seen again at Clahane at 11.25 being chased by Hooded Crows and gulls as it flew south with the wind towards Liscannor (Tom Lynch).  The two Eiders were still in the harbour at Liscannor.

seen a very large falcon, (about a third bigger or more than a female peregrine) it was the size of the bird that drew my attention, it flew in a small area and flew in tight circles for a while, this was in the coolorta area of the burren last Monday, it then perched near by, i belive it was a gryfalcon
