A female Long-tailed Duck was at Bunlicky (Gerry Murphy).
Black-headed Gull Yellow 286B was at Clancy’s Strand. It was ringed as chick in June 2008 at Aghinish, Lough Mask, Co. Mayo and was last seen in Limerick on 28/12/18. It is now the oldest know survivor from the Lough Mask colour ringing project (2006-2009) wintering in Limerick at 14.5 years old, eclipsing Yellow 208P who was 14.25 years old when last seen on 10/9/21.

A female Goshawk was seen near Rockfield, Rathkeale today (John N Murphy). This is the first published record of the species in modern times. They were known to breed in the County in the 16th century, however the only report of the species in modern times is an unpublished claim of a bird in the Ballyhoura Mts in 2012.
A male Great Spotted Woodpecker was seen and photographed at Curraghchase (JNM).
Buzzards were at Ardagh and Kildimo (JNM).
Two Buzzards were at Dromin (TT).

A Common Sandpiper was at Foynes (John N Murphy).


Friday 18th November 2022

An immature male American Wigeon was at Lough Gur. This is the sixth record for the County and the first since 1997. 79 Wigeon, 22 Mallard, 12 Teal, two Tufted Duck and 17 Curlew were also present (Tom Tarpey).

A Common Scoter was at Lough Gur along with seven Shoveler, 20 Wigeon, 24 Mallard, 45 Teal, a Tufted Duck and 36 Lapwing (TT).
Three Whooper Swans were at Camas, Bruff (Andrew Holmes).

A 1st winter Kittiwake was an unusual visitor to a flooded field at Camas, Bruff. Nine Dunlin, 79 Lapwing, a Merlin, three Buzzards and a Chiffchaff were also seen in the area (TT).
26 Mute Swans, 27 Teal, four Mallard, a Tufted Duck, 17 Curlew and seven Cormorants were at Lough Gur (Geoff Hunt).

14 Whooper Swans were at Camas, Bruff (Geoff Hunt).


Sunday 13th November 2022

A Brambling, a Stock Dove and 200 Chaffinches were at Curraghchase (Niall Keogh).
A Barn Owl was at Annacotty (TT)
