A Barn Owl was a road casualty on the Croom Bypass (Andrew Holmes).

A Merlin was at Carrigkerry (Geoff Hunt).
Three Brent Geese and a Black Guillemot were at Tarbert Bay (GH).

Two Blackcaps were at Monaleen (TT).
A Buzzard was at Derryknockane (TT).

A Red-throated Diver was at Harvey’s Quay, Limerick City (Geoff Hunt). This is the first known occurrence of this diver species in Limerick City.

Three Crossbills and a Buzzard were seen in the Lough Gay area (Mike Flanagan, Geoff Hunt & Michael Sheehy)

At least 20 Crossbills were seen in the Lough Gay area today (TT et al.). There was no sign of the Two Barred Crossbill.
21 Whooper Swans were at Athlacca (Geoff Hunt).
17 Little Egrets were at Grange Bridge (GH).
A pair of Buzzards were at Mortlestown (Andrew Holmes).


Wednesday 26th February 2020

A Two Barred Crossbill was found at Lough Gay (Allan Mee). This record, if accepted, will be the sixth for Ireland and the first for Limerick. 20 Crossbills were also present in the area.
