A one hour seawatch off Ross, Loop Head this evening between 16.30-17.30 produced 132 Cory’s Shearwater, four Sooty Shearwater and three Storm Petrel on flat calm conditions.(John N. Murphy)

At the Bridges of Ross this morning there were two Wilson’s Storm Petrel, 40 Storm Petrel, 16 Cory’s Shearwater, 15 Sooty Shearwater, a dark-phased Pomarine Skua, a Common Scoter, 16 Whimbrel and a Peregrine which took one of the Storm Petrel.(John N. Murphy, Geoff Pearson, Éanna O’Flynn)

Friday 28th July 2023

This morning at Loop Head between Ross and the Bridges of Ross from 06.30-12.30 there was one Wilson’s Storm Petrel (TC), over 100 Cory’s Shearwater, 14 Sooty Shearwater, an adult and a juvenile Sabine’s Gull, one Great Shearwater, ten Storm Petrels, one first-winter Mediterranean Gull, two Puffin, one Ringer Plover at sea and four Whimbrel.(Tony Cully & John N. Thursday 27th July 2023

At Ross, Loop Head this morning between 09.00-12.00 there were ten Cory’s Shearwater, a Grey Phalarope, five Storm Petrel, 4000 Manx Shearwater and six Whimbrel.(John N. Murphy)

Eight Great Shearwater, nine Sooty Shearwater, 35 Storm Petrel, one Whimbrel, a Sandwich Tern and a passage of 2800 Manx Shearwater per hour were recorded at the Bridges of Ross.(Chris Cullen 10.15-12.15)

Twelve Sooty Shearwater, an Arctic Skua, 54 Storm Petrel, 13 Puffin, four Sandwich Tern, four Dunlin and a passage of over 5000 Storm Petrel per hour from late morning were recorded at the Bridges of Ross.(Sean Holland, Chris Cullen. 07.50-11.50

At the Bridges of Ross this morning there was one Leach’s Petrel, two Sandwich Terns, three Puffin and Manx Shearwater passage ca. 1000 per hour. (Chris Cullen)
