At Loop Head today there was one Turtle Dove in Kilbaha, along with one Chiffchaff and one Willow Warbler. On the headland there was one Snow Bunting, 30 Chough and 80 Golden Plovers.

At least 25 Wheatears, three White Wagtails and a Peregrine were at Loop Head today.
Three Swallows were in Kilbaha.
A Peregrine was also seen at Kilkee.

A Wryneck was at the Fodry, Loop Head this evening (James Hayes). This is only a third Clare record, the last two were; one in 1937 at the Lighthouse and one in 1987 at Walshes Farm in Kilbaha. One Lapland Bunting was also on the headland.

There was one Yellow-browed Warbler at Loop Head this morning (Brian Finnegan, Howard Williams & Jeff Copner), along with two Pied Flycatchers three Goldcrest, four Redpolls, one Sedge Warbler and two Lapland Buntings on the headland. One second-winter Ring-billed Gull was at Quilty.

Two Yellow-browed Warblers were in Gibson’s garden, Loop Head this evening (John N Murphy), along with one Pied Flycatcher, one Spotted Flycatcher, one Goldcrest and four Siskins. A flock of 14 Lapland Buntings were seen on bare ground to the south side of the approach road to Loop Head Lighthouse, along with seven Wheatears and five Chough.

The American Golden Plover was roosting on the Diamond Rocks, Kilkee late this evening (John N Murphy). A Turtle Dove was in Gibson’s Garden, Loop Head this evening. Two Curlew Sandpipers were at Seafield, Quilty. One Mediterranean Gull was at Lahinch.

The American Golden Plover was at the west end of Kilkee Strand again today (Tom Tarpey, Chris Heard et al), along with one second-winter Ring-billed Gull and one Mediterranean Gull. At Loop Head there were ten Lapland Buntings, two Snow Buntings, one Buzzard and a Chiffchaff were seen at Kilbaha in the afternoon. A Curlew Sandpiper and Ruff were at Doonbeg. One Spotted Redshank was at Moyasta Creek.

The ELEGANT TERN that has spent the last week at Beale Point in Kerry made and appearance at Rineville Beach, Kilcredan this afternoon (Keith Langdon et al). This is a first for the county and only a 7th Irish record. The American Golden Plover was still at Kilkee Beach (John N Murphy et al). One Eurasian Crane flew high over Castleconnell heading into County Clare this afternoon (Paul Troake).

A White-tailed Eagle was seen flying over St. Thomas’s Island, Parteen at midday and was seen again in the afternoon at the Tail Race/River Shannon confluence (Pat Lysaght). At the Bridges of Ross the seawatching was good today, between 7.15-2.15 there were three juv Long-tails (one flew in over houses), six Pomarine Skuas, 15 Arctic Skuas, 27 Bonxies, three juvenile Sabine’s Gulls , 44 Leach’s Petrels, c30 Storm Petrels, 17 Grey Phalaropes, 5 Puffins, a Black Guillemot and 112 Sooty Shearwaters. There was also a juvenile Sabine’s in Ross Bay. The adult American Golden Plover was on Kilkee beach until c2.30pm when it flew off out to sea by itself and was lost to view! Two Kingfishers were off he pier at Mountshannon. Six Curlew Sandpipers were off Knockbeg Point at the Shannon Airport Lagoon.
