Wilson’s Storm Petrel off the Bridges of Ross © John N Murphy

One Fea’s Petrel was off the Bridges of Ross this evening (Noel & Niall T Keogh).
Seven Buff-breasted Sandpipers were at the Fodry, Loop Head (John N Murphy, Joe Shannon & Keith Bennett), along with 24 Lapland Buntings between there and the Lighthouse.
Also off the Bridges of Ross were four Wilson’s Petrel (Niall T Keogh, Noel Keogh, John N Murphy et al), 16 Long-tailed Skua, 95 Sabine’s Gull, 60 Sooty Shearwaters, 5,000 Manx Shearwaters, 28 Leach’s Petrels, 35 Storm Petrels, one Grey Phalarope: 25 Great Skuas (Bonxie): four Pomarine Skuas, 55 Arctic Skuas, six Sandwich Terns, 300 Arctic Terns, five Puffins, five Red-throated Diver, six Common Scoter and one Teal. There was also one Minke Whale.
There was one juvenile Sabine’s Gull, one Black-throatded Diver and an Arctic Skua at Aughinish Island north Clare.

One moulting adult American Golden Plover was on the beach at Seafield, Quilty (John N Murphy, Stan Nugent & Pat Brennan). Also at Quilty were seven Sabine’s Gulls and a dark phased Arctic Skua.
One Buff-breasted Sandpiper was at Ross Bay, Loop Head (Niall T Keogh).
At the Bridges of this morning there were six Wilson’s Storm Petrels (Niall T Keogh et al), along with 20 Long-tailed Skuas, one Great Shearwater, four Balearic Shearwaters, 111 Sooty Shearwaters, 130 Sabine’s Gulls, 80 Leach’s Petrels, 115 Storm Petrels, 95 Bonxies, two Pomarine Skuas, 27 Arctic Skuas, seven Grey Phalaropes, one Little Gull, 150 Arctic Terns, 60 Sandwich Terns, 12 Puffins, six Red-throated Divers, two Great Northern Diver, seven Common Scoter, two Whimbrel and a juvenile Ruff.
The three Sabine’s Gulls were still at Liscannor this morning along with one Storm Petrel.
One Curlew Sandpiper was at Dougmore Beach.

One Fea’s Petrel was off the Bridges of Ross this evening (Niall T Keogh et al). There were also four Wilson’s Storm Petrels (Niall T Keogh et al), 21 Long-tailed Skuas, 200 plus Sabine’s Gulls, four Great Shearwaters, four Balearic Shearwaters, 1,000 Sooty Shearwaters, 2,000 Manx Shearwaters, 45 Leach’s Petels, 250 Storm Petrels, 110 Bonxies, 15 Pomarine Skuas, 58 Arctic Skuas, 600 plus Arctic Terns,four Sandwich Terns, four Grey Phalaropes, four Puffins and three Common Scoters.
One Buff-breasted Sandpiper was in a field near Cross village (Dave McNamara).
One adult Sabines Gull and a juvenile Curlew Sandpiper were on Seafield Beach.
There was one Grey Phalarope, three Sabine’s Gulls a dark phase Arctic Skua and one Storm Petrel at Liscannor.
One Grey Phalarope was in a flooded field near Cregg Beach, Liscannor Bay.
One Manx Shearwater was found storm wrecked in a garden in Crusheen. The bird arrived on Saturday night and was re-released today at Liscannor.

A storm wrecked Manx Shearwater at Shannon Town © John N Murphy

One Wilson’s Storm Petrel was off the Bridges of Ross this morning in view for over 50 minutes (Noel & Niall T Keogh & Joe Adamson). Also at the Bridges today were one Great Shearwater, one Balearic Shearwater, 494 Sooty Shearwaters, 300 Manx Shearwaters, 63 Storm Petrels, one adult Long-tailed Skua, 28 Great Skuas (Bonxie), 3 pale phase Pomarine Skuas, 20 Arctic Skua, 33 Sabine’s Gulls: 32 Sandwich Terns, 126 Arctic Terns, 17 Common Scoters, one Puffin, seven Whimbrel and one Bar-tailed Godwit.
Three Sunfish were also noted off the Bridges of Ross.
Off Finvarra Point in North Clare there were 24 Storm Petrels, one Bonxie. one Arctic Skua, one Grey Phalarope and 20 Brent Geese were at Ballyvaughan Bay.
One Manx Shearwater was found storm wrecked in a garden at Shannon Town.

One Buff-breasted Sandpiper was at Cloghaun Lough, Loop Head this morning (John N Murphy & Finbarr MacGabhann). The other five birds were still at the Fodry, Loop Head while on the sea off the Fodry was one first-summer Sabine’s Gull, two Arctic Skuas, two Red-throated Divers and four Common Scoter.
Off the Bridges of Ross today there were 15 Sabine’s Gulls (6 adults, 8 2nd cal-years & 1 juv.),33 Sooty Shearwaters, 24 Storm Petrel, five Great Skua (Bonxie), one pale phase Pomarine Skua, 22 Arctic Skuas, two Sandwich Terns, 214 Arctic Terns, five Puffins, ten Common Scoters, three Red-breasted Mergansers and three Whimbrels. there were also ten Common Dolphin and one Sunfish.
Three adult Sabine’s Gulls, three Curlew Sandpipers, one Brent Goose and one Arctic Skua were at Doughmore Beach.
Two Arctic Skuas were at Kilkee.
Two Ruff were at Lough Atedaun.
Four Crossbills were at Gortcoirce, Dysert.
A Curlew Sandpiper, a Peregrine, 3 Gadwall, 2 Little Egret, 40 Shoveler and a small flock of 36 Black-tailed Godwit were at the Shannon Airport Lagoon and nearby mudflats this morning.

This morning a Buff-breasted Sandpiper flew in off the sea at the Bridges of Ross and then headed west (Keith Langdon, Niall T Keogh, Dave Farrow & Reg Land). Five more juvenile Buff-breasted Sandpipers were found together on the Fodry Loop Head. There were also 14 Lapland Buntings on the headland.
Off the Bridges of Ross there were three Sabine’s Gulls, seven Arctic Skuas, eight Bonxies, 27 Common Scoter, 54 Arctic Terns, 35 Sooty Shearwaters, 26 Brent Geese, six Sandwich Terns, one Puffin and three Storm Petrels.
Off Loop Head there 13 Sooty Shearwaters, seven Sandwich Terns, 17 Arctic Terns and two Arctic Skuas.
There were 13 Crossbills at Darragh.

Mediterranean Gull at Tarbert (Tom Tarpey)

Three Mediterranean Gulls (two adult winter, one second winter), six Sandwich Terns, two Common Terns, a Razorbill, ten Great-crested Grebes and nine Little Egrets were in Tarbert Bay.
Further west along the Estuary, nine Curlew Sandpipers, a Ruff, a Little Egret, a Merlin (adult male), three Wheatear, a Blackcap, a Chiffchaff and a Sedge Warbler were at Bunnaclugga in Kerry.
A Blackcap and a Chiffchaff were heard briefly in song at Loughill this evening.

There were six Sabines Gulls at the Blue Pools Kilkee again today along with one juvenile Little Gull, three Bonxie out of reefs to the south, 50+ whimbrels and 12 Sanderling on the reef.
At the Bridges of Ross there was one adult Long-tailed Skua, three Arctic skuas, three Bonxies, one Pomarine Skua, 12 Sooty Shearwaters, two Chough and a Kestrel.
Off Loop Head there were 100`s of Meadow Pipits, four Wheaters, two Kestrels and 1 Arctic skua chasing Kittiwakes at the mouth of the Shannon Estuary.
Two Arctic Skuas, nine Brent Geese and four Storm Petrels were off Seafield, Quilty.
There were 11 Crossbills at Gortcoirce, Dysert.
Three Ruff and the Black Swan were at Lough Atedaun.
One Peregrine was hunting high above on the coast near Raheen school.
