Between Killard and Quilty today west Clare there was one adult Ring-billed Gull and single 1st-winter Mediterranean and Iceland Gulls at Doonbeg Bay, ten Red-throated Divers, two Velvet Scoters (Paul Troake) and a Common Scoter in Doughmore Bay, one 1st-winter Glaucous Gull at Tromracastle, approximately 250 Barnacle Geese on Mutton Island, five Common Scoters off Seafield and 55 Brent Geese heading SW at Quilty.

A Ruff was seen at the Coonagh Ponds this morning. Other notable species counts there included 32 Shoveler, eight Gadwall, 93 Tufted Duck and a roosting flock of 185 Redshank and six Greenshank. A Buzzard was also heard calling near by.
Five Crossbills were seen at Glenanair in the Ballyhoura Mountains.

One first-winter Velvet Scoter was off the Rine, Ballyvaughan (Brian Finnegan, John N Murphy, Austin Cooney et al). Also off the Rine and in Ballyvaughan Bay were 38 Black-throated Divers, 30 Great Northern Divers, one second-winter Iceland Gull, one first-summer Little Gull, one Sandwich Tern, 120 Common Scoter, 200 Brent Geese, 50 Bar-tailed Godwits, 44 Red-breasted Mergansers and 60 Wigeon.

There were 13 Little Egrets at Drumcliff, Ballyallia Lake.

Five Crossbills and a Woodcock were at Gortcoirce.
There were eight Little Egrets at Ballyallia Lake, Ennis.
A flock of 46 Whooper Swans were at Ballygireen, Newmarket-on-Fergus.
Two Water Rails were at Ballycar Lough.

There was 20 Crossbills at Gort Coirce, Dysert.
A flock of 11 little Egrets, 40 Pintail and three Jays were at Ballyalla.
Eleven Greylag Geese were at Lough Muchinagh.
One Woodcock was at the Crabtree, Ballycar.

A 2nd-winter Mediterranean Gull, a 2nd-winter Iceland Gull and an adult Ring-billed Gull were at Harvey’s Quay today.
A Crossbill was seen at Coolfree in the Ballyhoura Mountains.
An flavistic Chaffinch was seen in a garden in Loghill. This bird apparently has a rare genetic defect causing it to show yellowish plumage. It has been present in Loghill for the last two to three winters.

Seven Little Egrets were at the Coonagh Ponds this afternoon at high tide, along with a Jack Snipe, 24 Curlew, 17 Dunlin, 12 Ringed Plover, four Lapwing, three Redshank, two Greenshank, two snipe, 52 Pochard, 47 Tufted Duck, 42 Wigeon, 23 Teal, 22 Mallard, eight Shoveler, four Gadwall and two Great Crested Grebes.
