The 3rd winter Yellow-legged Gull was at Thomond Weir agian today.
Black-headed Gull Yellow 208P was at Bishop’s Quay. This 2007 born Lough Mask bird is spending its fifth consecutive winter in Limerick.

Two Waxwings were in Cree today. These are only the second records of Waxwing in Clare this year.
Two Common Eiders were at Kilcredaun Bay (one first-winter male & one adult male). Also in this area were six Common Scoter, a female Hen Harrier and a Merlin.
One female Long-tailed Duck was at the White Strand, Doonbeg.
There were 100 Barnacle Geese on Illaunonearaun, Kilkee.
A small flock of 20 White-fronted Geese were at Tullagher Bog along with one female Hen Harrier.
One Jack Snipe was in Shragh Bog.

The second-winter Arctic Tern was at Clahane.
Ten White-fronted Geese were at Lough Muchanagh.
One Dipper was at Kilcornan, Ennistymon.
Two Woodcock were at Applewood, Ballycar.

At Tarbert Bay late this afternoon there were five Great Northern Divers, one Little Egret, 18 Great Crested Grebes, 80 Dunlin and 200 Teal. Also at Tarbert within a roosting flock of 1,000 Black-headed Gulls there were seven Mediterannean Gulls, one first-winter, two second-winters and four adults. Two of the four adults were wearing white plastic rings, one had a ring on its left leg white the other was ringed on the right leg. Both were too distant to read.

There were 30 Whooper Swans at Kilkee with another 20 Whoopers at Drumcliff, Ballyallia Lake.
Two Song Thrush were singing in Lees Road Wood late this afternoon just before dusk

Hawfinch at Curraghchase Una Hogan

A Crossbill was seen on a conifer at the carpark, Curraghchase, during the Branch Outing. Three Gadwall and Jay were also seen. A photo taken at the outing was later found to include an Hawfinch (Una Hogan). This is the first record of the species at the site since January 2011.
Two Whooper Swans and a Peregrine were seen at Lough Gur.
Coonagh had 54 Pochard, 42 Wigeon, six Tufted Duck, 113 Coot, three Little Grebes, six Mute Swans as well as Fieldfare and Redwings.

Two Brambling were within a mixed flock of finches on the approach road to Finvarra Pointand Martelloe Tower.
Two Long-tailed Ducks, two Sandwich Tens, ten Great Northern Divers, one Black-throated Diver, 60 Brent Geese and 15 Black Guillemots were off the causeway at Aughinish Island.
One Little Egret was a the pier at New Quay.
At the Clare Branch BWI outing to Seafield, Quilty today there were 108 Purple Sandpiper, 170 Sanderling, 263 Turnstone and 80 Dunlin were seen close to the pier. One observer saw a Curlew Sandpiper briefly before it flew off. On nearby Mutton Island between 80-100 Barnacle Geese were present.
Two Barn Owls have been seen regularly on recent nights at Lees Road Wood, Ennis.
