Recently arrived Whooper Swans at Coonagh ©Tom Tarpey

Two Whooper Swans were Coonagh today. Other notable counts there were 47 Mute Swans, 106 Coot, five Little Egrets, 15 Lapwing, 20 Wigeon and eight Gadwall.
Two Whooper Swans were also seen at the Mill Road, Corbally.
48 Wigeon, 15 Teal and 10 Shoveler were at Lough Gur.

Saturday 12th October 2013

At Loop Head today there were three Chiffchaff, one late Willow Warbler, two Goldcrests, five Wheatears two Merlin and a small flock of 80 Golden Plover.  A male and female Blackcap were seen together at Ballyallia and a Water Rail was nearby in the reeds.  Two Red-throated Divers were at Kilkee Bay.

A Turtle Dove was at Kilbaha and 140 Golden Plover were at the Fodry.

Sunday 6th October 2013

A juvenile colour-ringed Black-headed Gull, White TN6L, was seen at Clancy’s Strand today. The bird was ringed as nestling in a small village called Januszkowice in Opole County in south western Poland on May 29th last. This young gull has moved a distance of 1856km in the 130 days since it was ringed.

At Loop Head today there was one Turtle Dove in Kilbaha, along with one Chiffchaff and one Willow Warbler.  On the headland there was one Snow Bunting, 30 Chough and 80 Golden Plovers.

A eclipse male Garganey, a Wheatear and 10 Swallows were at Coonagh today.

Tuesday 1st October 2013

At least 25 Wheatears, three White Wagtails and a Peregrine were at Loop Head today.
Three Swallows were in Kilbaha.
A Peregrine was also seen at Kilkee.
