There were two Cackling Canada Geese (Branta h. Hutchinsii) and one Canada Goose (Branta c. parvipes) within a flock of 180 Barnacle Geese at Killard, Doonbeg (John N Murphy & Finbarr MacGabhann). The female Marsh Harrier, a White-fronted Goose, two Canada Goose, a Merlin, two Jay, five Little Egret, 11 Gadwall and around 100 Black-tailed Godwit were seen at the Clare Branch of BWI outing to Ballyallia. The two Eiders and a first-winter Glaucous Gull were at Liscannor Harbour. There were 60 Pintail and nine Little Egrets at Moyasta.

15 Crossbills were seen at the Limerick/Kerry border near Knockathea.
A adult male Hen Harrier was seen in the west Limerick uplands.
A female Marsh Harrier, 7 Little Egret, a Water Rail, 13 Dunlin and 120 Redwing were at Ballyallia.
Leave a commentA first-winter Glaucous Gull, one Merlin and three Purple Sandpipers were at Clahane. The two Eider ducks were still in Liscannor Harbour.
Leave a commentA white-phased Gyrfalcon was seen at Clahane north of Liscannor just before 9.30 this morning.(Geoff Pearson). The bird flew off after being mobbed by Hooded Crows at 9.40. It was seen again at Clahane at 11.25 being chased by Hooded Crows and gulls as it flew south with the wind towards Liscannor (Tom Lynch). The two Eiders were still in the harbour at Liscannor.
1 CommentThere was a flock of 12 Crossbills near Athea West this morning with one large young male bird in the flock showing two rosé coloured wing-bars.
A male Hen Harrier was seen near Effin.
The female Marsh Harrier, one White-fronted Goose and two Canada Geese were at Ballyallia Lake this morning. The immature and first-winter drake Eiders were back in Liscannor Harbour this afternoon.
