Bonxie at the Bridges of Ross John N Murphy
A Wilson’s Storm Petrel (Eanna O Flynn), 4 Sooty Shearwater, 2 Cory’s Shearwater, 2 Great Shearwater, one Storm Petrel, two Pomarine Skuas, 10 Arctic Skua, 5 Great Skua, 7 Common Scoter, five Arctic Terns and an adult Sabine’s Gull were at the Bridges of Ross. Two Raven were at Ballyallia Wood.

Three adult Sabine’s Gulls, 52 Sooty Shearwaters, 2 Balearic Shearwaters, 9 Great Shearwaters, 11 Cory’s Shearwaters , 11 Storm Petrels, 8 Puffin, 7 Great Skuas, 7 Arctic Skuas, one Pomarine Skua, 123 Arctic Terns and one Grey Phalarope were seen from the Bridges of Ross.

At the Bridges of Ross today there was on Great Shearwater, two Sooty Shearwaters, 500 Manxies (ph), five Storm Petrels, five Common Scoter, 30 Black-tailed Godwits, one Sanderling and one Ringed Plover. One Common Sandpiper and one Whimbrel were in Ross Bay. At Poulnasherry Bay there were 80 Curlew, 42 Shelduck and seven Little Egrets.

A group of visiting Dutch birders had one Wilson’s Petrel, and numbers of Greats, Cory’s and Sooty Shearwaters off the Bridges of Ross and Loop Head today (no precise details). A juvenile Reed Warbler was ringed at Shannon Airport Lagoon.

Two Raven, a Little Egret and a flock of around 150 Linnet were at Islandavanna. Four Water Rail were at Lough Luirk Turlough.

Ninety four Coot were at the Northern end of Ballyallia Lake this evening. This number included 20 juveniles. Over 200 Swallow, House Martin and Sand Martin were feeding on insect over the lake. A Raven was nearby. Earlier 13 Swift were seen over Ennis town with two more at Ballyallia.

There was one adult Ring-billed Gull and 50 Redshank at Bell Harbour. Six Little Egrets were along the Flaggy Shore.

A pair of Garganey was seen on the small middle pond at Coonagh today. The drake was in eclipse plumage. Also present were 22 Tufted Duck, 12 Mallard, four Teal, two Pochard, two Gadwall, six Redshank, two Lapwing, a Black-tailed Godwit, a Snipe, 12 Great-crested Grebes, 55 Little Grebes, 30 Mute Swans, 226 Coot, 34 Moorhens, a Little Egret and a Grey Heron.
A Common Sandpiper was at the Charleville Lagoons.
