A first winter Ring-billed Gull was seen on the river at Harvey’s Quay, Limerick City while an adult bird was seen across the river at the slipway on O’Callaghan’s Strand. This adult bird is most likely the same individual that has turned up at this location in December every year for at least six years.
Black-headed Gull Yellow 286B was also seen at Thomond Weir today. It was ringed as a chick on Lough Mask, Co. Mayo on 12/6/2008 and has been seen in Limerick in most winters since.
A Redshank was also present at O’Callaghan’s Strand.
