One drake SURF SCOTER was off Bishop’s Quarter, Ballyvaughan today (John N Murphy & Austin Cooney), along with 20 Common Scoter, two Long-tailed Duck, 80 Brent Geese, 22 Great Northern Divers, four Red-throated Divers, one Albino Curlew and two Little Egrets.

There were 120 Barnacle Geese at Mutton Island seen on the BWI Outing with 16 Brent Geese at Seafield and 40 Purple Sandpipers. (John N Murphy, Austin Cooney et al)

Two Hawfinches were seen at Curraghchase this morning (Irish Birding/Brian McCloskey).
A sub-adult Iceland Gull (probable first winter) was seen in a flooded field at Ballyfookeen near O’Rourke’s Cross on the N20 today (Irish Birding/Dave McGrath).

Three Hawfinches were seen at Curraghchase this morning (Irish Birding/Andrew McMillan & Mick Boyle).
The first winter Iceland Gull was seen at Sarsfield Lock in Limerick City again today (Andrew Holmes, Krunoslav Rajakovic and Geoff Hunt).
An adult Ring-billed Gull was see at Harvey’s Quay (Krunoslav Rajakovic).

18 Tufted Duck, 16 Pochard, six Gadwall, two Shoveler, eight Mallard, 16 Mute Swans, 64 Coot, six Little Grebes and a Great-crested Grebe were at Coonagh (Geoff Hunt).
Eight Whooper Swans inc. three juveniles, were in a field between Caherconlish and Herbertstown (Andrew Holmes).

There were 950 Wigeon, 320 Teal, 240 Tufted Duck, 126 Coot, 48 Mallard, 36 Pintail Duck, 32 Little Grebe, 28 Shoveler, 24 Curlew, 23 Lapwing, 12 Moorhen, nine Cormorant, five Great-crested Grebe, four Gadwall and a Little Egret were at Ballyallia.(Nuala and Tom Lynch)
