The pacific Diver was off Carnsefin this morning 1.5 km NW of Coolshiva along with 18 Great Northern Diver, 45 Cory’s Shearwater and one Storm Petrel.(Paul Troake)

The Pacific Diver was seen in the same area at 4p.m. along with 12 Cory’s Shearwater.(Jeff Copner)

A seawatch between 10.00-13.20 produced a steady passage of Manx Shearwater, seven Cory’s Shearwater, one Storm Petrel, 12 Puffin and 21 Curlew.(Steffan Schaffer)

An afternoon seawatch between 14.00-15.00 showed a steady passage of Manx Shearwater, four Cory’s Shearwater, six Puffin and 37 Curlew.(SS)

A first summer Pacific Diver and 14 Great Northern Diver were off Coolshiva Pier.(Paul Troake)

A seawatch at Black Head between 06.50-08.25 produced over 150 Cory’s Shearwater, two Arctic Skua, one Storm Petrel and five Puffin.(PT)

Two Cory’s Shearwater were at the Bridges of Ross at 11.00.(Chris Cullen)

Between 11.40-14.10 there were 825 Manx Shearwater, one Arctic Skua, two Storm Petrel and 57 Kittiwake at the tip of Loop Head.(CC)

At the Bridges of Ross between 15.10-16.40 there were two Cory’s Shearwater, one Storm Petrel, one adult Mediterranean Gull, 35 Gannet, 37 Kittiwake and 600 Manx Shearwater.(CC)


Saturday 27th July 2024

A seawatch at the Bridges of Ross between 05.40-13.40 produced  two Wilson’s Storm Petrel(06.52, 10.30), one 2cy Long-tailed Skua, 2756 Cory’s Shearwater,  142 Great Shearwater, 55 Sooty Shearwater,  three Arctic Skua,  56 Storm Petrel and 105 Puffin.(Brian McCloskey, Sean Holland, Jeff Copner et al)

At Black Head between 10.40-13.00 there were over 150 Cory’s Shearwater,  two Great Shearwater,  13 Puffin, one Great Skua, three Arctic Skua and one Storm Petrel. (Paul Troake)


Friday 26th July 2024

At Ross Ringing Station between 10.20-12.20 a seawatch produced 45 Great Shearwater,  287 Cory’s Shearwater, one Sooty Shearwater,  two Storm Petrel , four Puffin and 400/500 Manx Shearwater per hour. (John N Murphy)

Thirty six Cory’s Shearwater went west past Castle Point, Kilkee between 13.15-13.45.(JNM)

The two Eiders were at the West End, Kilkee.(JNM)

The Whooper Swan was at Kilkee Reservoir. (JNM)

There were 15 Cory’s Shearwater, 20 Sandwich Tern and three Great Northern Diver at Black Head.(Geoff Pearson)

Another 2cy Ring-billed Gull was at Quilty Beach.(JNM)

A seawatch at the Bridges of Ross between 08.00-10.30 produced one Great Shearwater,  six puffin, 1000 Manx Shearwater per hour, two Storm Petrel, four Common Scoter, one Red-throated Diver, 200 Guillemot, five Razorbill, six Kittiwake, 30 Gannet and three Turnstone.

A Common Sandpiper was at Cloughaun Lough.(GP)
