Three Barnacle Geese at Goleen John N Murphy

There was a female Marsh Harrier ay Dromore Nature Reserve along with two Buzzards, one Water Rail and 16 Greylag Geese. (Jan Biemens)
There was a female Marsh Harrier at Lough Muckanagh along with 55 White-fronted Geese, five Goldeneye and four Whooper Swans. (Andy Smith)

Red-legged Partridge at Connolly John N Murphy

A Red-legged Partridge was at the Hand, Connolly.(John N.Murphy)
Eight Tree Sparrow were at Seafield.(JNM)
A Green Sandpiper was at Moyasta.(JNM)
Two Common Sandpipers were on the head race canal at O’Briensbridge (Tom Tarpey).

A Barn Owl was a road casualty at Ballinschooola, Hospital (Andrew Holmes).


Wednesday 1st March 2023

A 3CY male White-tailed Eagle was seen near Fedamore. The bird, tagged F, Yellow right, Green left, was released at Lough Derg in August 2020 and was previously seen at Ballyallia Lake in February 2021, Co. Down in May 2021 and Mellon Point on 27/2/23 (TT).

A 2cy Iceland Gull was at Thomond Weir (TT).

The three White-tailed Eagles were still at Lough Muckanagh this morning (Dixie Collins), along with a female Marsh Harrier and six Goldeneye (Tom Tarpey). The two tagged White-tailed Eagles (‘Y ‘& ‘White Triangle’) were still present this evening.(TT)
There were 52 White-fronted Geese and seven Whooper Swans grazing on the fields near Tubber.(TT)
Four Greenshank were at Lough Atedaun.(TT)

During the course of the Clare Branch outing a male Hen Harrier was close to the Goose Fields near Tubber.There were nine Whooper Swan at the Goose Fields. A Buzzard and a pair of Goldeneye were at Lough Muckanagh. A Buzzard and 30 Whooper Swan were at Lough Atedaun
