A seawatch at the Bridges of Ross between 07.30-11.30 produced 150 Sooty Shearwater, 550 Cory’s Shearwater, 330 Great Shearwater, one Grey Phalarope, one Little Gull, two Arctic Skua, one Sabine’s Gull, two Brent Goose and eight Common Scoter.(John Jackson & Mark Gibson)
A Seawatch at Black Head between 08.45-11.30 produced 150 Manx Shearwater, 20 Sooty Shearwater, ten Cory’s Shearwater, three Great Shearwater and a Merlin.(Paul Troake)

Friday 11th October 2024

A Lapland Bunting was at Loop Head. (Mark Gibson) A Merlin and two Whooper Swan flew down the Shannon. Two Northern Wheatear and three Redpoll were at the Lighthouse. A Yellow-browed Warbler one Chiffchaff, two Goldcrest, five Redwing and three Swallow were at Kilbaha village.(MG & John N Murphy)
A Pink-footed Goose was at Ross Ringing Station early this morning along with one Merlin and eight Whooper Swans which flew east and one Buzzard flew west over the Station.(JNM)
There were two White-tailed Eagle, two Kingfisher, 18 Whooper Swan and a White Wagtail at Lake Atedaun.(Nuala and Tom Lynch)
There were two Red-throated Diver and 40 Common Scoter at Lahinch.(Geoff Pearson)
A Barn Owl was seen on the road, half way between the Anvil B & B and Kilbaha village at 23.45.(Mark Gibson)

Three Pink-footed Goose flew west over Ross Ringing Station this morning and six Barnacle Goose flew east.(John N Murphy)
A Merlin was also hunting in the area.(JNM)
Eight Barnacle Goose flew over Kilbaha and a Hen Harrier was hunting there.(Mark Gibson)
Two White-tailed Eagle were at Lake Atedaun.(James Organ)
Two Buzzard were at O’Toole’s Lough.(JO)
There were 12 Whooper Swan at Lough Bunny and five more were at Lake Atedaun. One of those was almost taken by a White-tailed Eagle.(JO)
Later today two Yellow-browed Warbler and two Goldcrest were at Kilbaha.(JNM MG, Tom Tarpey, Ray Glynn)
Over 20 Cory’s Shearwater, one Great Skua, two Manx Shearwater and seven Barnacle Goose were off Ross.(JNM, MG TT & RG)

There were 180 Golden Plover at Clahane with another 100 at the Inagh Estuary.(Geoff Pearson)

The American Golden Plover and eighty Golden Plover were at Clahane.(Geoff Pearson)
There were 12 Red-throated Diver, one Great Northern Diver and 30 Common Scoter at Lahinch.(GP)
A Barnacle Goose was at Lahinch Marsh.(GP)
There were two Whooper Swan was at the Headland, Loop Head.(Dermot Cosgrove)
Four Buzzard were at Roxton.(Mark Rutledge)
There was 25 Whooper Swan at Lake Inchiquin.(MR)
There was a mix of 900 Great and Cory’s Shearwater, nine Sooty Shearwater, 45 Manx Shearwater, a Great Skua, 62 Barnacle Goose, a Peregrine and a Merlin at Loop Head this afternoon.(Mark Gibson)

One Pink-footed Goose flew north over Ross Ringing Station this morning.(John N. Murphy)
One Yellow-browed Warbler was still on the Bog Road at Loop Head with a Wheatear. (JNM & PC) Three Goldcrest were in Kilbaha village, with 12 Snipe and one of the albino Hen Harriers heading west towards the lighthouse. (JNM & PC)
A Merlin and 29 Golden Plover were at Illaunonearaun.(Páidí Cullininan)
A Common Sandpiper was at Clarecastle Quay.(James Organ)
At Loop Head this afternoon there was one female Hen Harrier, one Merlin and four Barnacle Goose.(JNM)
At Kilcredaun Marsh there was one immature Hen Harrier and one juvenile Peregrine.(JNM)
Off Ross Ringing Station this evening there were 15 Cory’s Shearwater, six Great Shearwater, eight Sooty Shearwater, 36 Manx Shearwater, 22 Barnacle Goose,one Great Northern Diver, five Golden Plover and 27 Turnstone.(JNM)
