Saturday 25th August-Seawatching at the Bridges of Ross

August 25 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Seawatch outing to the Bridges of Ross on the Loop Head Peninsula. If conditions are suitable good views of Shearwater, Skuas, Petrels and other seabirds on their southbound passage can be observed. This is one of the top spots for seawatching in Ireland and Britain. Meet at the Bridges of Ross car-park at 9am. Wrap up warm. Bring a flask and sandwiches if you wish. Clare Swift Project would like to receive any information on nesting Swifts in the County. Contact clareswifts@gmail.com. Clare Branch of BWI intend to install Swift boxes on suitable buildings next spring so information on nests this year is vital for the success of this project.

Saturday 22nd September-The Shannon Airport Lagoon.

September 22 @ 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm

Outing to the Shannon Airport Lagoon to look for Reed Warblers, Sedge Warblers, Stonechats, Reed Bunting, Gadwall, Black-tailed Godwit, Curlew, Dublin, Golden Plover and other birds using the Lagoon, reedbeds or nearby mudflats. Meet at the Shannon Golf-Club car-park at 1p.m.(note time to coincide with rising tide) Leaders:Nuala and Tom Lynch.

Saturday 6th October 2018-Loop Head Peninsula

October 6 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

Joint outing with the Limerick Branch of BWI to the Loop Head Peninsula to search for scarce and rare autumn migrants. A wonderful birding spot at this time of year. Food available at Keating’s Pub Kilbaha or the nearby Gallery and Craft Shop. Meet at Kilbaha Village at 9a.m. Leaders: John N. Murphy and Clodagh Glasgow.

Saturday 24th November-Curraghchase Forest Park.

November 24 @ 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Joint outing with the Limerick Branch of BWI to look for Hawfinch, Jay, Buzzard, Red Squirrel etc. Meet at Curraghchase Forest Park in the car-park a kilometre or so beyond the barrier. Leaders: Austin Cooney and Brian Finnegan.
