Sunday 9th May-Dawn Chorus Outing to the Burren-Cancelled.

The above outing is cancelled due to ongoing Covid restrictions. However if you wish to visit the Burren to hear its unique Dawn or Dusk Chorus please do any day during May. You should hear the Cuckoo along with Blackcap, Whitethroat, Willow Warbler and perhaps a Yellowhammer. Of course many other bird species will be singing there as well. Worth the trip.

Saturday 12th June-Loop Head

Outing to Loop Head to see thousands of nesting Kittiwake, Fulmar, Common Guillemot, Razorbill, Shag etc. on the cliffs. Meet at the car-park at Loop Head Lighthouse at 11a.m. Hopefully Keating’s Pub or the Kilbaha Gallery will be open for food and refreshments.

A visit to Loop Head in search of scarce and rare migrants. Meet at Loop Head Hotel, Kilbaha at 9am. If late arriving catch up with us along the road to the Headland. Food available at Loop Head Hotel, Keatings and Kilbaha Gallery or you can bring a flask and sandwiches.

Saturday 27th November 2021-Curraghchase

Joint outing with the Limerick Branch of Birdwatch Ireland to Curraghchase Forest Park. An enjoyable stroll through the Park where we hope to see Jay, flocks of finches, Treecreeper, Buzzard, other woodland birds and if we get very lucky Hawfinch or Brambling. We often encounter Red Squirrel on this walk. Meet at the car-park inside the barrier at 9.30a.m.

Saturday 11th December 2021-Ballyallia Lake

Outing to Ballyallia Lake near Ennis. This small lake hosts a variety of wintering wildfowl, ducks and some waders. Jay and birds of prey are often spotted in the surrounding woodland and countryside.Farmland birds are easily observed. Meet at the parking area opposite Lake View Stores on the Ruan road at 11a.m.

A visit to Lurga Point, Seafield, Quilty and nearby Lough Donnell to see waders and seabirds. This is an excellent site to view birds at close range. Purple Sandpiper are usually present at this time of year. Meet at the Pier, Seafield at 11a.m.

Saturday 19th February 2022-Mid Clare Lakes

Outing to the Mid Clare Lakes. We will visit Lake Atedaun, Lake Inchiquin and perhaps other nearby lakes. Wintering wildfowl should be plentiful along with some waders. Meet at the Grotto, Corofin at 11a.m.

Saturday 26th March 2022-Ballyvaughan.

A visit to the Ballyvaughan area to look for waders, Brent Geese, seaduck etc. We will walk along the Rine to look for divers etc. Meet at the Pier opposite Monk’s Pub at 11a.m. A car rally is being held in the area on Saturday but Ballyvaughan village will be quiet for most of the day. The R480 Ennis Road will be closed to traffic for most of the day. The rally stages will be at Corkscrew Hill.
