Here we will see lots of wading birds divers and the scarce Purple Sandpiper.
Meet at the Pier at 11.00am.

The Leon Committee in conjunction with the Clare Branch of Birdwatch Ireland
are pleased to present a day of Birdwatching Atcivities in the Quilty Area on Saturday
31st January 2009. The meeting Point and time is outlined as above and after the outing
which is being led by two local birdwatching experts Austin Cooney & John Rattigan we
hope to ajourn to the Leon Centre in Quilty village at 2.00pm for hot drinks & lunch
(please pack your own lunch, hot drinks will supplied free of charge in the centre).
After lunch John Murphy local wildlife Expert will give a slide lecture on the birds of
the west Clare coast.

National Dawn Chorus event in the Burren National Park to listen for Whitethroat, Yellowhammer, Cuckoo, Blackcap,etc.
No dogs please. This a look and listen outing. A unique experience. You will be glad you got up early. Birds sing right through the morning and are often easy to see.

A visit to the Bridges of Ross for top class seawatching provided wind and weather are favourable.
See Shearwaters,Skuas,Petrels etc., on their southbound passage.
This site is highly rated by seawatchers everywhere.
Wrap up well. Bring flask and sandwiches.
Alternatively good food and B+B are available at the Lighthouse Pub Kilbaha which is nearby.

Evening outing to the Shannon Airport Lagoon.
A unique site for thousands of birds.
Good chance of a rarity.
Meet at the Shannon Golf Club car-park at 6.30p.m.

Great site for close up views. Good outing for beginners and more experienced birders alike.
Purple Sandpiper often spotted among more common waders.
