A seawatch at the Bridges of Ross between 06.15-18.00 produced 3000 Cory’s Shearwater, 500 Great Shearwater, 35 Sooty Shearwater, 184 Sabine’s Gull, 13 Great Skua, six Arctic Skua, nine Pomarine Skua, one Long-tailed Skua, 11 Storm Petrel, one Leach’s Petrel, 27 Arctic Tern, 13 Sandwich Tern, 11 Common Scoter, two Puffin, two Grey Phalarope, two Whimbrel, four Kittiwake and up to 2500 Manx Shearwater per hour at 17.00. At the Fodry, Loop Head between 07.10-15.40 there were 215 Sabine’s Gull( including several double-figured flocks, max c.22), a large Shearwater passage, constant throughout, mostly mid-distance, typically c.750 to 1000 per hour, approx 5000 Cory’s, 2600 Great Shearwater plus 15 Sooty Shearwater. Also one Leach’s Petrel, seven Pomarine Skua, seven Great Skua and seven Arctic Skua.(Paul Troake, Geoff Pearson)
