Recently fledged Great Spotted Woodpecker ©Gordon Young.

Two Great Spotted Woodpeckers, an adult male and a recently fledged juvenile, were seen at Murroe (Mike Quirke & Gordon Young). This is the first evidence of successful breeding in Limerick since the species re-colonised the country in mid 2000’s.
A Cuckoo was calling at Gooig Bog.

Three 3cy Lesser Black-backed Gulls ringed in Lough Ree, Blue 030:R, Blue 136:R and Blue 138:R, were seen on the Shannon in Limerick City in the past few days (TT). These are the first re-sightings of 3cy birds from the Lough Ree project back in Ireland and also the first re-sightings of these birds since they were ringed as chicks on Incharmadermot Island, County Longford on 15/6/2018.
Cuckoos were calling at Corbally, Plassey and Gooig Bog.
