Monday 22nd July 2024

3cy Mediterranean Gull ©Tom Tarpey

Two Mediterranean Gulls (3cy & 2cy) were at Clancy’s Strand. A Little Egret, an unusual species at this location, was also present.(Tom Tarpey).
An adult Yellow-legged Gull (presumed returning bird) was at Loughill (Niall Keogh).
Two adult Mediterranean Gulls were at Tarbert Bay (NK).
A Stock Dove was at Robertstown (NK).


Sunday 21st July 2024

At the Bridges of Ross between 07.50-11.20 a seawater produced one Wilson’s Petrel, six Sooty Shearwater, two Common Scoter,  a Storm Petrel, 171 Gannet, 402 Guillemot,  20 Fulmar, 14 Kittiwake, 11 Dunlin, one Curlew, six Oystercatcher, one Puffin, four Razorbill and 3000 Manx Shearwater. Four Common Sandpiper  and a juvenile Mediterranean Gull were at Cloughaun Lough. (CC)


Saturday 20th July 2024

A Great Spotted Woodpecker was at Caherhurley.(John Dixie Collins)
Another Great Spotted Woodpecker was at Coolreagh.(Andy Smith).
At Lough O’ Grady there were three Green Sandpiper, 23 Curlew, 45 Lapwing, two Common Tern and two Buzzard.(AS)

 


Thursday 18th July 2024

55 Gadwall, 17 Mallard, two Wigeon, 10 Tufted Duck, 27 Coot, 32 Little Grebes, a Great Crested Grebe and a Little Egret were at Coonagh Wetlands. Two Reed Warblers were also in song at the site (Tom Tarpey).


Monday 15th July 2024

A Great Spotted Woodpecker was at O’Briensbridge.(Steve Millar)

Long-eared Owl chicks were calling at Dysart.(James Organ)

At the Bridges of Ross between 10.00-11.30 there were 493 Guillemot, 550 Manx Shearwater, seven Sandwich Tern, five Razorbill, 19 Gannet and nine Fulmar.(Chris Cullen)
A 2cy Ring-billed Gull was at Seafield, Quilty.(Sean Whelan, Jeff Copner)
A Mediterranean Gull and two Sandwich Tern were at Doughmore Beach.(SW)
The two Eider were still at Kilkee.(SW)
A Hen Harrier was at Aylevarroo.(SW)
Two Great Northern Diver were at Lahinch.(JC)


Friday 12th July 2024

A male Yellowhammer was feeding young chicks on the north western slopes of Mullaghmore.(Nuala and Tom Lynch)
A male Yellowhammer was singing at Knockaunroe Turlough.(N & TL)
Three Buzzard were soaring over Poundtown south of Knockaunroe Turlough.(N & TL)


Wednesday 10th July 2024

At the Bridges of Ross between 14.30-16.30 there were 22 Gannet, 1450 Manx Shearwater, 915 Guillemot, 56 Kittiwake, six Fulmar, seven Herring Gull, 36 Razorbill, two Puffin, three Shag, one Common Gull, four Chough and a Kestrel.(Chris Cullen)
