A drumming Great Spotted Woodpecker, five Crossbills and a Cuckoo were at Oatfield. A second Cuckoo was nearby at Cloghoolia. (Tom Tarpey)

A Short-eared Owl was seen on the Ballyhoura Mts (Irish Birding- James Mcgrath).

There were two Common Sandpiper, 30 Whimbrel, two White Wagtail and 25 Golden Plover at Clahane.(Jeff Copner)
There were 18 Sandwich Tern at Liscannor.(JC)


Thursday 17th April 2025

Great Spotted Woodpeckers were heard drumming simultaneously at two locations near Oatfield. At least two other birds were also seen in the area at the time.  A Cuckoo was also in the area (Tom Tarpey, Maura Turner & Mary Cavanagh)

There were 30 Purple Sandpiper at Clahane.(Geoff Pearson)
