Saturday 30th May 2026

A Red Kite was seen flying westwards at Kilkinlea, Abbeyfeale (Philip Gleeson). This is the 11th County record, following on quickly from the tenth two days earlier.

Four Reed Warblers were in song in one section of the Coonagh Wetlands. A drake Gadwall was also present. (Tom Tarpey)

One male Great Spotted Woodpecker was at Muchanagh between Rossroe and Fenloe Lakes. (John N Murphy)

One drake Wigeon, five Reed Warblers and 24 Shelduck were at the Shannon Airport Lagoon. ( JNM)

One pair of Gadwall and a female Curlew were near Saints Island. (JNM)

A Quail was in full at Islandavanna.(Chris Cullen, Tristan Cullen et al)

One Redshank was also at Islandavanna with potential breeding. (James Organ)

A Hobby was near Garryncurra, Cratloe. (Per Irish Bird Sightings)

A Red Kite was observed crossing the motorway near Bunratty. (Rachel Cronin)

A Bittern was at the Coonagh Wetlands (TT). This is the fifth County record and the first for the site. The most recent previous records were of a bird shot at the Ballinacurra Creek on 2/1/1950 and another nearby in the same week.

A Red Kite was also seen flying eastwards at Coonagh (TT). The is also a first record for the site and the tenth County record, three of which have occurred in the past nine months.

A 3cy White-tailed Eagle (tag no. 43) flew upriver past Coonagh (TT). This bird, released at Tarbert Bay in 2024, has been resident in the general area for the past year or so.

A Spotted Flycatcher was near Athlacca (Gerry Murphy).

A 3cy White-tailed Eagle (Tag no. 43) was at Bunlicky (Gerry Murphy).

A female Great Spotted Woodpecker has continued to visit a private garden near Cappamore (Cathie Chappell).

An Osprey was at Eineagh, Moyasta this afternoon. (Noel McMahon)

Four Tree Sparrow were close to Seafield and two Great Northern Diver in summer plumage were off the pier.(Charlie Lyons)

Sixteen Little Egret were at Carron and a Spotted Flycatcher was at Templecronan.(Chris Cullen)
