An adult Mediterranean Gull was on the Shannon at Brown’s Quay. 547 Lesser Black-backed Gulls inc. 45 juveniles were on the Shannon in Limerick City (TT). One of the juveniles, (Blue 005:R), was ringed as a chick at a colony at the northern end of Lough Ree (Incharmadermot Island) on 29/6/18.

Two female Hen Harriers, a Kestrel, three Ravens, five Dunlin, 30 Ringed Plover, six Curlew and a Little Egret were at Scattery Island this afternoon (Tom Tarpey & Maura Turner).

A juvenile Reed Warbler was seen at Coonagh this morning, confirming successful breeding there this summer. Also present were three Pocahrd inc. one juvenile, eight Gadwall, three drake Wigeon, nine Tufted Duck, three Little Egrets and a Raven (TT)
A Buzzard was at Ballysimon (TT).
Three Common Sandpipers, a Greenshank, six Redshank, six Whimbrel, three Curlew, a Little Egret, two Grey Herons, three Sandwich Terns, seven Mediterranean Gulls, 40 Black-headed Gull, four Herring Gulls, two Great Black-backed Gulls and a Buzzard were at Tarbert Bay (Geoff Hunt).

A Dipper was Hospital (TT).

A White-tailed Eagle was seen between Loughill and Ballyhahill (Dane Lawlor).

Buzzards were seen at Glenwilliam Andrew Holmes) and Ballysimon (TT).


Saturday 30th June 2018

A Reed Warbler carrying food was seen at Coonagh today, confirming breeding at the site. At least two singing males were also present (TT).
