A 1st winter Kumlien’s Gull and two 1st winter Iceland Gulls were at O’Callaghan’s Strand. All appear to be new arrivals over the past week. An 2nd winter Yellow-legged Gull was also present. This is the bird that was first seen there in January 2017(TT).
At least 25 Hawfinches were at Curraghchase (Jeff Copner).

Two Iceland Gulls, a 2nd winter and a new 1st winter bird, and an adult Ring-billed Gull were at O’Callaghan’s Strand (TT).
A UK ringed Black-headed Gull, Yellow 2RNR, was at Harvey’s Quay. The bird was ringed as a nestling in the Lee Valley Park, Fishers Green, Essex (on the northern outskirts of London) on 8/6/16 and was last seen at nearby Waltham Abbey on 28/5/17 (TT).

Two 2nd winter Yellow-legged Gulls and an adult Ring-billed Gull were at O’Callaghan’s Strand (Geoff Hunt).
A 1st winter Iceland Gull was on the Shannon between Steamnoat Quay and O’Callaghan’s Strand. This was the dark toned bird, a probable Kumlien’s Iceland Gull, that was first seen at Thomond Weir two weeks ago (TT).
A Buzzard was at Glenwilliam (Andrew Holmes).
26 Whooper Swans, inc. ten juveniles, four Wigeon, two Mallard and 57 Lapwing were on the flood plain on King’s Island (TT).
56 Tufted Duck, 16 Pochard, two Shoveler, two Wigeon, 93 Coot, four Moorhens, two Water Rails, six Mute Swans, six Little Grebes, nine Snipe and a Heron were at Coonagh (GH).

An adult Yellow-legged Gull and a 1st winter Ring-billed Gull were on the Shannon at Mill Road, Corbally. The Yellow-legged Gull is the tenth record for the County. A Goosander flew down river from the Clare side of St.Thomas’s Island (TT).
A Danish ringed Black-headed Gull, White 6EM, was at Thomond Weir. The bird was ringed as a 3y+ adult male in eastern Copenhagen on 2/4/13 and was last seen in a central Copenhagen park on 30/3/16. This is the second Black-headed Gull from the same ringing site in Copenhagen in the past two years.(TT).
27 Shoveler, three Mallard, two Tufted Duck and a Snipe were at Healy’s Field (TT).
A Little Egret was at the Dublin Road bridge in the Groody Valley (TT).
20 Hawfinches and a Brambling were at Curraghchase (per Irishbirding).
Eight Whooper Swans were at Herbertstown (Andrew Holmes).
A Great Northern Diver, 156 Wigeon, 78 Shelduck, 42 Teal, eight Cormorants, 2,500 Golden Plover, 600 Dunlin, 500 Lapwing, 120 Curlew, 50 Black-tailed Godwits, 16 Bar-tailed Godwits, 18 Redshanks, five Greenshanks, six Ringed Plover, three Snipe and a Jack Snipe were at Morgans, Aughinish (Geoff Hunt).
