The drake Garganey was seen again today at Coonagh. The bird was frequenting the small pond between the upper and lower lagoons.  A Teal, a Gadwall, six Tufted Ducks, four Pochard and a Whimbrel were also present (Geoff Hunt).

A drake Garganey was seen in the lower lagoon at Coonagh today(Tom Tarpey).  This is the fourth successive spring record for species at the site. Other wildfowl present included 32 Whimbrel, a Redshank, four Gadwall, three Pochard, three Tufted Duck,  several Mallard and four pairs of Great-crested Grebes.  Several Sedge Warblers, Grasshoper Warblers and a Cuckoo were all in song at the site also.

A Grasshopper Warbler, a Cuckoo and a Red Grouse were all heard calling at Grouse Lodge, Ardagh today (Geoff Hunt).

A flock of 47 Whimbrel were at Doohyle Lough today.  A Sedge Warbler and. Whitethroat were also present (Geoff Hunt).

A Whimbrel, a Common Sandpiper, a Shelduck and nine Teal were at the Charleville Lagoons today (Tony Mee).
A Wheatear and 15 Gadwall were at Lough Gur (Tony Mee).

Saturday 18th April 2015

Nine Whimbrel, 13 Redshank, two Oystercatchers, a Knot, a Greenshank, 27 Shelduck, 35 Teal and two Little Egrets were at Tarbet Bay today.  A singing Whitethroat was also found nearby (Geoff Hunt).

Friday 17th April 2015

Two HOOPOES were seen together on the hilltop just north of Castletown today (Kevin Kennedy) .  This sixth record and first multiple sighting for the County is part of the exceptional influx of the species into Ireland and southwestern England over the past week or so.
