A Chiffchaff showing characteristics of the Siberian race tristis was seen at Coonagh today(Geoff Hunt). Also seen there were 114 Teal, 32 Tufted Duck, 22 Pochard, 15 Shoveler, 12 Gadwall, six Wigeon, 250 Coot, 22 Greylag Geese, 12 Mute Swans, three Little Grebes, 42 Black-tailed Godwits, 18 Lapwing, two Snipe, a Little Egret and Grey Heron.

There was 121 Whooper Swans, 20 Greylag Geese, a Little Egret and a Raven at Shannongrove, Pallaskenry.
A large flock of about 1000 Lapwing, a Litte Egret, two Kestrels and a mixed flock of Chaffinches, Linnets, Goldfinches and Reed Buntings were seen at Ballydoole, Pallaskenry.
The first reported Blackcap of the winter was seen at Monaleen, Castletroy.

One male Merlin was at Athea.

One Lapland Bunting was at Athea today (John N Murphy & Pat Ryan), along with nine Crossbills and one Merlin.

Four Crossbills were seen near Athea.
One Little Egret flew over the main road near the church at Robertstown Creek.

Black-headed Gull Yellow 208P was seen at Harvey’s Quay. The bird was ringed as a nestling at Lough Mask, Co. Mayo in June 2007, was first seen in Limerick in March 2009 and has been seen here on six occasions since.

A large flock of Starlings with over 20,000 birds was seen heading to roost near the Limerick Tunnel Toll Plaza this evening.
