Forty Whimbrel were seen flying North-west over Ballycorick Bridge, Ballyhea. (Tom Slattery)
There were 18 Whimbrel at Clarecastle Quay. (John N Murphy)
A small flock of 22 Whimbrel, eight Arctic Terns and five Great Northern Divers were at Liscannor. (John N Murphy)
A large build up of hirundines were at Lough Gash, Newmarket-on-Fergus with over 90 House Martins and 60 Swallows. (John N Murphy)

Saturday 9th May 2015

Two Swift and four pairs of Great-crested Grebe were at Ballyallia this morning.(Nuala and Tom Lynch)
Two Yellowhammer, a pair of Little Egret, a Common Sandpiper, a pair of Wheatear, seven Whitethroat, four Blackcap and four Cuckoo were at Mullaghmore. Two Cuckoo and two Whitethroat were at nearby Rinroe. Another Cuckoo and three Whitethroat were at South Commons.(Nuala and Tom Lynch)

The drake Garganey was seen again today at Coonagh. The bird was frequenting the small pond between the upper and lower lagoons.  A Teal, a Gadwall, six Tufted Ducks, four Pochard and a Whimbrel were also present (Geoff Hunt).

The Short-eared Owl was still at Deerpark, Doora. (Howard Williams)

Twenty six Whimbrel were in a field just north of Ballyallia. Eight more were at Drehednagower Bridge.(Nuala and Tom Lynch)

A drake Garganey was seen in the lower lagoon at Coonagh today(Tom Tarpey).  This is the fourth successive spring record for species at the site. Other wildfowl present included 32 Whimbrel, a Redshank, four Gadwall, three Pochard, three Tufted Duck,  several Mallard and four pairs of Great-crested Grebes.  Several Sedge Warblers, Grasshoper Warblers and a Cuckoo were all in song at the site also.
