There was one Cory’s Shearwater at the Bridges of Ross this morning, along with one juvenile Long-tailed Skua (P Simons), 13 Sooty Shearwaters, 700 Manx Shearwaters per hour, 13 Arctic Skuas, five Bonxies, two Storm Petrels, ten Arctic Terns, six Common Scoter and 65 Whimbrel. There were 12 Ruff, one Green Sandpiper, four Little Egrets, 96 Black-tailed Godwits, five Snipe and a juvenile Peregrine at Lough Gash. (John N Murphy)
At Saints Island on the Shannon Estuary there were 16 Little Egrets. (John N Murphy)
There were ten Gadwall and one Wigeon in the Shannon Airport Lagoon. (John N Murphy)

Two Garganey, 12 Gadwall, two Shoveler, 10 Mallard, 37 Tufted Duck, a Pochard, four Swift and a Raven were at the Coonagh Nature Reserve this evening.

Saturday 22nd August 2015

There were six Sooty Shearwaters, ten Storm Petrels, two Pomarine Skuas, four Bonxies, four Arctic Skuas, 20 Whimbrel, five Knot, 11 Turnstone, two Grey Phalaropes, four Rock Dove and two Chough at the Bridges of Ross today (Colin McNamee, John N Murphy, Tony Mee et al).
One Little Egret was in Cloghaun Lough, Loop Head. (Tony Mee)

Friday 21st August 2015

A sub-adult Marsh Harrier was seen this evening at the Coonagh Nature Reserve (Tom Tarpey). The bird was present for at least 20 mins, hunting around the upper lagoon, before it moved off down river towards Cratloe. A pair of Garganey in eclipse plumage were also present along with 16 Gadwall, two Shoveler, five Pochard and 20 Tufted Duck.

At the Bridges of Ross today there was one Bonxie, one Arctic Skua, 200 Manx Shearwaters, seven Storm Petrels, nine Common Scoter, 23 Sandwich Terns, five Whimbrel, two Sunfish and ten Bottle-nosed Dolphins. (Keith Langdon, John N Murphy et al)
One Great Northern Diver was in Kilbaha Harbour. (Keith Langdon)
There was on Kingfisher, three Common Sandpipers, 102 Mallard and 50 Lesser Black-backed Gulls at Islandavanna. (John N Murphy)
At Moyasta Creek there were eight Little Egrets, 64 Mallard and 50 Curlew. (John N Murphy)

There was on juvenile Pomarine Skua, two Arctic Skuas, one Bonxie, one Balearic Shearwater, 50 Sooty Shearwaters, two Storm Petrels and three Whimbrels at the Bridges of Ross today. (Keith Langdon)
There were two Green Sandpipers, one Common Sandpiper, one juvenile Ruff, one Knot, 106 Black-tailed Godwits, four Snipe, four Little Egrets and ten Teal at Lough Gash, Newmarket-on-Fergus this afternoon. (John N Murphy)

Highlights from the Bridges of Ross today were; one Great Shearwater, one Balearic Shearwater, 45 Sooty Shearwaters, four Long-tailed Skuas, one adult Pomarine Skua, 12 Bonxies, six Arctic Skuas, three adult Sabine’s Gulls, 11 Storm Petrels, five Whimbrel, one juvenile Puffin, seven Sandwich Terns, two Sunfish and one Comma Butterfly.
