A Cuckoo was at the Ballyhoura Mts. (Irishbirding – James Mcgrath).


Wednesday 16th July 2025

A Common Tern, 127 Gadwall, 33 Mallard, a Teal, 3 Tufted Duck, two Swift, three Little Egrets and at least six Reed Warblers were at Coonagh (Tom Tarpey).


Sunday 13th July 2025

A Common Sandpiper was at Castleconnell (Pearse Ryan).


Friday 4th July 2025

A Garden Warbler was at the Coonagh Nature Reserve this evening (Tom Tarpey). This is a first record for the site.

141 Gadwall, 56 Mallard, two Tufted Duck, a Pochard, a Swift and two singing Reed Warblers in new locations were also present (TT).


Monday 30th June 2025

159 Gadwall, 45 Mallard, a Shoveler, three Tufted Duck, three Pochard, 51 Coot, 19 Little Grebes, a Great Crested Grebe, four Swift, a Buzzard and four Reed Warblers were at Coonagh (Tom Tarpey).


Friday 27th June 2025

Two White-tailed Eagles were seen near the tunnel portal at Bunlicky (Gerry Murphy).

Two White-tailed Eagles were at Bunlicky (Mylie Heelan).


Thursday 12th June 2025

A Great White Egret was seen flying southwards from Ringmoylan Quay again today (Tom Tarpey).

Two Great Spotted Woodpeckers ( adult & juvenile) were seen in a private garden at Doon (Irish Birding, Paul Dillon).


Wednesday 11th June 2025

A Great White Egret was seen near Ringmoylan Quay (Seán Doyle).

Two Great Spotted Woodpeckers were seen in a private garden at Doon (Irish Birding, Paul Dillon).

A Whitethroat was at Moig, Askeaton (Clodagh Glasgow)

A Spotted Flycatcher was near Coolcappagh (Tom Tarpey).

Juvenile Long-eared Owls were heard calling in the Corbally area (Brian McClure).


Monday 9th June 2025

Six Reed Warblers, 67 Gadwall and five Black-tailed Godwits were at Coonagh (Tom Tarpey).

A Reed Warbler, a drake Gadwall and two Water Rails were at Westfields (Sean Whelan).

A male Great Spotted Woodpecker was seen feeding a juvenile from a peanut feeder in a private garden in Corbally (Joan Conran).
