A juvenile Black Tern was seen on the upper lagoon at Coonagh this evening. The bird settled down to roost on a patch of floating vegetation. Other birds of note there were two Shoveler, ten Pochard, two Gadwall, a Wigeon and a Little Egret.
64 Ringed Plover, 12 Dunlin and six Turnstone were at a high tide roost at Glin Pier.

18 Little Egrets were at three high tide roosts around Tarbert Bay today.
A Peregrine was seen on the estaury at Cahergal, Askeaton.

Three Great Shearwaters, 56 Sooty Shearwaters, an adult Long-tailed Skua, five Pomerine Skuas, 32 Arctic Skuas, 48 Bonxies, a Leach’s Petrel, 90 Storm Petrels, three Sabine’s Gulls, seven Whimbrel, a Merlin, a Great Northern Diver and a Red-throated Diver were the hightlights at The Bridges of Ross today.
A Little Stint flew northwards over Kilbaha harbour.

Eleven Common Sandpipers were at Poulaweela Creek.
Single Common Sandpipers were at Beagh Castle and New Quay, Askeaton.
Four Little Egrets were at Robertstown east.
22 Tufted Duck, nine Pochard, three Gadwall, three Mallard, two Wigeon, a Shoveler, 32 Black-tailed Godwits, five Great-crested Grebes, 34 Little Grebes, 294 Coot, 25 Moorhen, eight Mute Swans and a pair of Ravens were at Coonagh.

A Barn Owl was seen crossing the N20 at Croom.
Five roosting Little Egrets were at Coonagh for the morning high tide.

A Hobby was seen close to the Morningstar River just south of Garryspillane today (Tony Mee). This is the second record for the species in Limerick, the first being at Lough Gur on 18/8/1989.
