The female Ring-necked Duck was still at Westfields along with five Gadwall, four Tufted Duck and a drake Pochard (Tom Tarpey).


Saturday 12th April 2025

Three Hen Harriers, two Cuckoos and Crossbills were seen in the Doon area during the branch outing today (Gyr Penn, Donogh Sweeney, Gearoid Jackson et al.).
A Great Spotted Woodpecker was seen at Commonaline on the Tipperary side of the Limerick-Tipperary county boundary (Donogh Sweeney).


Friday 11th April 2025

A Reed Warbler and a Sedge Warbler were in song at Coonagh (Tom Tarpey).
A Marsh Harrier was hunting the reeds beds near the N18 toll booths at Coonagh (James Organ).


Wednesday 9th April 2025

A drake Garganey was at Coonagh along with 19 Gadwall, two Shoveler, four Teal, a Pochard and a House Martin (TT).


Sunday 6th April 2025

A Hoopoe was reported at Lough Gur (Bird Guides).

The probable male Lesser Scaup hybrid was still at Lough Gur (TT).
A Swallow was at Drombanna (TT).

A Green Sandpiper was at Robertstown Creek (TT).


Tuesday 2nd April 2025

A drake Lesser Scaup type duck was at Lough Gur along with 20 Tufted Duck. While exhibiting multiple characteristics of the species, the bill tip colour may be indicative of a hybrid (Tom Tarpey).
A Great Spotted Woodpecker was heard drumming briefly in the wooded area beside Bouchier’s Castle, Lough Gur. (TT).
A Swallow was at Grange (TT).

A Barn Owl was a road casualty on the M20 at Ballycummin (Andrew Holmes).


Monday 31st March 2025

A Willow Warbler was in song at Roselawn, Castletroy and a Great Spotted Woodpecker was drumming close to the nearby Black Castle. At least four Blackcaps were in song in the general area also (Tom
Tarpey).
