The Caspian Gull and three 1st winter Iceland Gulls were seen at Arthur’s Quay (per Irish Birding).

The 2nd winter Caspian Gull, the 1st winter Yellow-legged Gull and three 1st winter Iceland Gulls were seen on the Shannon in Limerick City at the Branch Outing this morning (Maura Turner, Clodagh Glasgow, Tom Tarpey el al.). A flock of over 100 Siskins, 20 Chaffinches and five Redwings was also seen at Westfields during the outing along with 12 Pochard, 25 Tufted Duck, four Shoveler, ten Teal and 15 Mallard.

The 2nd winter Caspian Gull and two 1st winter Iceland Gulls were at Honan’s Quay inLimerick City today (Maura Turner).
Three Little Egrets were seen with cattle in a field on the eastern side of Foynes. A Red Admiral butterfly was also seen at Foynes today (TT).
A Blackcap was in song at Curraghchase, presumably a wintering bird enticed by the very mild weather, as breeding males normally don’t arrive on their territories until the first week of April. A Buzzard was also seen there(TT).

At the Branch outing to Clonderlaw Bay, a Black-throated Diver, four Red-throated Diver, five Great Northern Diver, a Jack Snipe, 120 Shelduck, 77 Golden Plover, 50 Cormorant including one bird from SE England or the continent, 30 Common Guillemot, 11 Black Guillemot, over 200 Redshank, 23 Greenshank, 70 Curlew, 550 Dunlin, ten Great-crested Grebe, six Little Egret, 60 Wigeon, 100 Teal, 25 Ringed Plover, 15 Tufted Duck and 12 Mallard were seen.(Nuala and Tom Lynch, Austin Cooney, Brian Finnegan et al)
