Glossy Ibis’s at Lough Atedaun James Organ

There were 27 Glossy Ibis at Lake Atedaun this afternoon. One of the birds had distinctive leucism on both wings. They were disturbed by heavy machinery and flew south/south east.(James Organ) There were two Glossy Ibis and two Kingfisher at Islandavanna this afternoon.(Cliff Baxter)There were 11 Glossy Ibis along with the two Whooper Swan at the Drumcliffe end of Ballyallia Lake this evening.(Ray Glynn, Nuala and Tom Lynch)

A seawatch at the Bridges of Ross between 08.30-15.30 produced 30 Leach’s Petrel, 20 Storm Petrel, 200 Cory’s Shearwater, 20 Great Shearwater, 50 Sooty Shearwater, 1000 Manx Shearwater per hour, 14 Sabine’s Gull, nine Arctic Skua, two Great Skua and nine Grey Phalarope.(Cathal Forkan) There were 80 Curlew Sandpiper, a juvenile Little Stint and a Black Tern at Quilty.(CF)

Juvenile Little Stint with juvenile Curlew Sandpipers at Seafield John N Murphy

A Glossy Ibis and a Buzzard were at Ballyallia Lake.(Nuala and Tom Lynch) An American Golden Plover was at Doonbeg (John N Murphy) along with four Curlew Sandpiper and three Ruff.(JNM, GP) Two Little Stints and 80 Curlew Sandpiper were at Seafield.(JNM & GP) One Common Swift was at Moyasta this morning.(JNM) A Ruff and eight Curlew Sandpiper were at Quilty Beach.(JNM) There were 16 Curlew Sandpiper at Clounahinchy Beach.(JNM) A White-tailed Eagle and a Kingfisher were at Lough Atedaun.(James Organ) There were two Whooper Swan at Ballyallia this morning.(Maura Crowe) This afternoon there were four Whooper Swan and two juvenile at the Drumcliffe end of Ballyallia.(John Rutherford) There were six Gadwall and a Buzzard at Lough Erinagh.(N & TL) Two Gadwall were on the sea this afternoon at Caherush. There were 30 Curlew Sandpiper and a male Greenland Wheatear at Seafield with another ten Curlew Sandpipers at Quilty Beach. (JNM, Geoff Pearson, Gerry Wheeler) A colour ringed Dunlin was also at Seafield today (orange ring on tarsus of left leg and a yellow with black writing on tarsus of right leg with black initials JNJ. An adult Mediterranean Gull and two Curlew Sandpiper were at Rineville Beach.(JNM)

There were two Sabine’s Gull, one Black Tern, one Leach’s Petrel, one immature/female Greenland Wheatear and 12 Sandwich Tern at Ross Ringing Station this evening.(JNM)

At the Bridges of Ross this morning (6:45 – 13:00) there were five Great Skua, seven Arctic Skua, 21 Sooty Shearwater, three Corys Shearwater, two Great Shearwater, seven Storm Petrel , one Leach’s Petrel, one Grey Phalarope, one Sabine’s Gull, one Great Northern diver, two Red-throated diver, six Common Scoter, three Sandwich Tern and a Whimbrel. At the Bridges of Ross this afternoon (14:00 – 18:00) there were four Arctic Skua, two Pomarine Skua, six Storm Petrel, three Grey Phalarope, one Black Tern and low numbers of Manxs Shearwater all day, peaking at about 180p/h. (PL)
