Clare Bird Sightings

The WHITE-TAILED EAGLE was again at Ballyallia this morning. She flew south over Drehednagower Bridge towards Ennis town centre at 12.45pm.(Myles Carey, Nuala and Tom Lynch)
Twelve Little Egret, two pair of Pintail Duck, 20 Shoveler, 4 pair of Great-crested Grebe, 11 Black-tailed Godwit, around 50 Sand Martin, two Willow Warbler and a male Blackcap were also at Ballyallia.(MC, N & TL)

A WHITE-TAILED EAGLE was at the south side of Ballyallia Lake at 1.30pm. The bird was still present up to 3pm and was observed wearing an Orange tag with No. 2 on left wing, and a Blue tag with No. 2 on its right wing. This bird is Aoibheall, one of the chicks that fledged the nest in Mountshannon during 2014. (Paidi Cullinan, Nuala and Tom Lynch, Myles Carey)

There were six Water Rail, 100 Knot, 250 Black-tailed Godwit, 20 Grey Plover and a Little Egret at the Shannon Airport Lagoon this afternoon. (JNM)

One Willow Warbler was singing at Applewood, Ballycar with 46 Fieldfare flying north over head of this bird (John N Murphy).
