Nine Whimbrel, 13 Redshank, two Oystercatchers, a Knot, a Greenshank, 27 Shelduck, 35 Teal and two Little Egrets were at Tarbet Bay today. A singing Whitethroat was also found nearby (Geoff Hunt).

Two HOOPOES were seen together on the hilltop just north of Castletown today (Kevin Kennedy) . This sixth record and first multiple sighting for the County is part of the exceptional influx of the species into Ireland and southwestern England over the past week or so.

A Cuckoo was heard calling at Gooig Bog this evening. This is the first report of the species in Limerick so far this spring

A HOOPOE has been seen daily in a private garden at Rockhill, Bruree since last Friday morning (Carl Weaver). This record coincides with a large influx of the species along the south coast over the second half of last week. This is the fifth record of the species in Limerick.

Two House Martins were with the flock of Sand Martins on the Abbey River in Limerick City. Sand Martins have taken up residence in the riverside wall of the Potato Market again this year, in greater numbers than previous years .

A Swallow was seen at Adare today (Sean O’Sullivan).
A Jack Snipe and two Snipe were flushed in a field near Tarbert (Geoff Hunt).
A pair of Red Grouse were at Long Mountain in the Ballyhouras.( Joan Neill)
Two Jay were on conifers on the slopes of Seefin(Joan Neill)
