Two Continental Cormorants (sinensis race) were among a flock of 55 Cormorants feeding on the Shannon at Merchant’s Quay, Limerick City, at high tide this morning(Tom Tarpey).

An adult Ring-biled Gull was at Harvey’s Quay.
Elsewhere in Limerick City a flock of 104 Oystercaychers was at the Kings Island, a small flock of Siskins was feeding on the Alders at Westfields and a Blcakcap was seen at Monaleen.

A Buzzard was seen at Murroe today (Richard Walsh). The bird was present in the area for a number of  prior days.  See photo on irishbirding.com.

A Buzzard was seen at Ahane today (Derek McCarthy).
Blackcaps were seen in gardens at Newcastle West and Monaleen today.

A Buzzard and a flock of about 500 Chaffinches were at Curraghchase Forest Park this afternoon.
Blackcaps were seen at Westbury (Maura Turner) and Monaleen.

A flock of c.700 Linnets was seen at Adare. The birds were feeding on the remnants of an oil seed rape crop in the two fields just north of the new playground.

A Brambling was seen with the Chaffinch flock, which contained about 300 birds, in the arboretum at Curraghchase today (Maura Turner).

A Siberian Chiffchaff was seen at the Coonagh Nature Reserve today (Tom Tarpey). A Jack Snipe was also present.
This month’s Branch Outing was spread over two locations; six Jack Snipe were seen at Lough Gur, a Buzzard was seen on the Croom Road outside Bruff en route to the Starling murmuration south west of Croom. An estimated 250,000 birds, the largest number so far this winter, displayed in the murmuration between 16:50 and 17:25(Geoff Hunt).
