Nine Shoveler, seven Gadwall, three Wigeon, six Teal, four Mallard, seven Pochard, 13 Tufted Duck and a Soarrowhawk were at Coonagh. A large Tit flock, containing all four common Tit species, was also present (TT).

Adult Ruff Geoff Hunt

An adult Ruff and a Green Sandpiper were at Robertstown (Geoff Hunt).
A Wheatear was at Morgans North, Askeaton (GH).


Sunday 11th October 2020

Two Yellow-browed Warblers, a Willow Warbler, a Goldcrest, a Redwing and several large mixed tit flocks were at Kilbaha. The tit flocks were primarily Blue Tits with lesser numbers of Great Tits and Coal Tits and were seen to be moving eastwards through the village throughout the day (Jeff Copner).

Two Merlin, two Sparrowhawks, two Kestrels two Whooper Swans and 30 Golden Plover were at Loop Head (Jeff Copner).

A Little Stint was at Kilteery (TT).
An adult Yellow-legged Gull, a Peregrine and 65 Golden Plover were at Loughill (TT).

Two Chiffchaffs and a Blackcap were at Kilbaha and a female Hen Harrier was at Loop Head (Jeff Copner).

A Turtle Dove was at Kilbaha (Geoff Hunt & Geoff Perason).
Three Leach’s Petrels, two Storm Petrels, a Sooty Shearwater, seven Great Skuas, three Red-throated Divers, four Common Scoter and a Red-breasted Merganser were seen at The Bridges of Ross this morning. (GH & GP).
Six Barnacle Geese were seen briefly at Doughmore Strand this afternoon and again at Doonbeg in the evening(Tom Tarpey).
240 Golden Plover were at Doonbeg (TT).

There were 85 Golden Plover, two Wheatears and a Hen Harrier were at Loop Head. (TT et al)

Common Sandpiper Tom Tarpey

A 1st winter Common Sandpiper and an adult winter Mediterranean Gull were at Clancy’s Strand (TT).
