A Green Sandpiper was at Robertstown (TT).
A Ruff, 20 Knot and eleven Grey Plover were at Poularone (TT).
A Common Sandpiper was at Poulaweela Creek (TT).
A Whimbrel and a Portuguese colour-ringed Lesser Black-backed Gull, Blue M:023, were at Loghill (TT).
The Portuguese Gull was ringed at a rehabilitation centre in Quiaios on 17/9/2014, spent the summer of 2015 in Portugal and was seen in Sligo in August 2018.

Ruff Tom Tarpey

Two Leach’s Petrels, one Storm Petrel, two Great Skuas, two Arctic Skuas and a Common Scoter were at the Bridges of Ross. (Geoff Hunt, Mike Flanagan and Michael Sheehy)

Yellow-legged Gull Tom Tarpey

An adult Yellow-legged Gull was at Loghill (TT).
A Common Sandpiper was at Poulaweela Creek (TT).
A Kingfisher was at Robertstown (TT).

Arctic Skua (Geoff Hunt)

An Arctic Skua, nine Sandwich Terns, a Common Tern, six Mediterranean Gulls and two juvenile White-tailed Eagles were at Tarbert Bay (Geoff Hunt)

Juvenile White-tailed Eagle Yellow/Green H was seen at Ballydonoghoe, Tarbert Bay (TT). Adult winter and first winter Mediterranean Gulls were also seen in the Bay.
A Kingfisher was at Askeaton Quay (TT).

Two juvenile White-tailed Eagles, tagged G and J resp., were seen at Ballydonoghoe on the Limerick side of Tarbert Bay(Geoff Hunt). They are two of the four imported Norwegian juveniles released in the area last week. All have yellow tags on the right wing and green tags on the left wing, similar to the birds released on Lough Derg earlier in the month.

2nd winter Little Gull Tom Tarpey

Three Wilson’s Petrels, 20 Leaches Petrels, 200 Storm Petrels, two juvenile Long-tailed Skuas, 30 Arctic Skuas, 20 Bonxies, three Great Shearwaters, one Balearic Shearwater, eight Sabine’s Gull, 70 Arctic Terns and three Common Scoters were seen at the Bridges of Ross today (Noel Keogh, Brian McCloskey, Victor Cashera, Jim Dowdall, Tom Tarpey, Mark Stewart et al.)
A 2nd winter Little Gull was at Rhinevilla beach (TT.
Two Sanderling were at the Cloughaun Lough outflow (TT).
A Ruff was at Kilcredaun marsh (Barry Howell).


Monday 24th August 2020

A Polish ringed juvenile Black-headed Gull (Blue T78H) was at Honan’s Quay (TT). The bird was ringed as a chick at small lake near Poznan in Wielkopolskie province in western Poland on June 4th last.
