Two Wheatears, eight Whimbrel and 80 Swifts were new arrivals at Coonagh. 16 Pochard and eight Tufted Duck were also present.

A drake Garganey was seen at Coonagh this morning. This the third successive spring record for the site. The bird was in the lagoon to the east of the tunnel north portal. Six Swifts, a Cuckoo, 22 Whimbrel, 12 Tufted Duck, four Pochard, three pairs of Great-crested Grebes, a Little Egret and a Greenshank were also present.

A Cuckoo was heard calling at Aughinish Island today.
Two Blackcaps and a Chiffchaff were at Ballyfrawley, Newcastle West.

A Whimbrel was also seen at the Mill Road, Corbally.

Newly arrived Sedge Warbler at Coonagh

A Sedge Warbler was in song at Coonagh today. 65 Redshank, five Greenshank and five Dunlin were also present at the high tide roost.

Four House Martins were among a mixed flock of about 50 Swallows and Martins at Coonagh today

Four Crossbills and two Redwings were seen at Castleconnell.
Swallows have been reported from several new locations around the County in the past week including Ardagh, Askeaton, Limerick City(South Circular Road) and Pallasgreen.
