A report of a Nightjar churring at the southern end of Gooig Bog on a few evenings in mid July was received today(per Fergus Flood). Nightjars bred in small numbers in the County up to the 1960’s however there have been very few records since.

At the Bridges of Ross today there was one Cory’s Shearwater, three Great Shearwaters, 25 Sooty Shearwaters, one Balearic Shearwater, 12,000 Manx Shearwaters, six Great Skuas, 16 Storm Petrels, eight Arctic Terns, one Long-tailed Duck, one Common Scoter and five Curlew. A flock of 38 Rock Dove were near Moveen. (JNM & PC).

There was one Cory’s Shearwater, one Sooty Shearwater, 4,000 Manx Shewarwaters, four Arctic Skuas, two Storm Petrels, 55 Common Scoter, two Swift, one Common Sandpiper, nine Whimbrel, 24 Curlew, 38 Oystercatchers and four Redshank off the Bridges of Ross this afternoon (John N Murphy & Paidi Cullinan).
