Fifty seven Whooper Swan were on the field across from Drumcliffe Burial Ground. This flock included 18 juvenile swans.

A female Eider, a Red-throated Diver, 4 Great Northern Diver, 3 Purple Sandpiper and a flock of over 300 mixed waders were at Quilty. Eight Red-throated Diver, 6 Great Northern Diver and over 60 Common Scoter were at Lahinch.

Three Yellowhammer were down at the back of their usual spot close to Mullaghmore and another was near Ballyteige Lough.

There was a drake Green-winged Teal (John N Murphy) and two Little Egrets at the Shannon Airport Lagoon this afternoon. There were 500 Black-tailed Godwit and large flock of wigeon at Lake Atedaun. A group of 180 Whooper were at a turlough near Lough Cullen. Two Jay near O Toole’s Lough and four Jay and a Water Rail were at Dromore Nature Reserve.

Seventeen Whooper, (12 adult and 5 juvenile) 56 Greylag Geese, 1 Pintail, 4 Gadwall, 1 Water Rail, 45 Shoveler and 650 Lapwing were at Ballyallia Lake today. Overall there were more than 3100 birds on the lake with Wigeon making up the biggest number.

At a very well attended Branch outing to Seafield Quilty today 70 Purple Sandpiper,(one with a yellow ring on each leg) a Red-throated Diver and 4 Great Northern Diver were seen along with a good selection of common waders. Two Red-throated Diver were at Liscannor and another was at Clahane along with a second winter Iceland Gull. A Peregrine was at the Crosses of Annagh.

The branch outing to Curraghchase was very well attended however birds proved to be somewhat scarce. Several Jays were seen however most proved to be shy and elusive. A Buzzard was seen briefly being mobbed by a crow, however it was only seen by one observer . A few Red Squirrels were also seen briefly.

A Buzzard was seen today at Kilcornan, at the Currachase junction.
The pair of Long-tailed Ducks remained at Coonagh.
