A White-tailed Eagle was seen this afternoon at Glensharrold, Carrigkerry (Moss O’Connor, Mike Flanagan). A Cuckoo was also seen in the area.
Seven Swift, six Whimbrel and a Dunlin were at the Charleville Lagooons.
Cuckoos were reported from Lough Gur, Drombanna, Bauraneag,Carrigkerry and Grouse Lodge, Ardagh.
A Whitethroat was also at Grouse Lodge.
Nine Blackcaps were recorded in one CBS tetrad at Currachase. Four House Martins were also seen in the area.
A short-eared Owl was seen standing on a fence post just outside Moyasta.
There were five Tree Sparrows at Finvarra village.

The young pair of White-tailed Eagles nesting at Mountshannon have continued to show great dedication to incubation duties, with both birds sharing the task and maintaining round the clock cover at the nest. The pair, a three year old female(green tag) and a four year old male(red tag), are exceptionally young breeders.
Two Swifts and two Whimbrel were seen at Mountshannon on the White-tailed Eagle nest watch.
Along with the two White-tailed Sea Eagles at Mount Shannon there were several Swifts along with small but regular flocks of Whimbrel flying north, one Common Sandpiper at the pier and a Mediterranean Gull mobbing Common Terns.

A flock of 12 Crossbills were at Gortcoirce.
The first Swift reports of the year were from Limerick City today, with one at Mulgrave Street in the morning and two at Lord Edward Street in the afternoon.
Leave a commentWe are delighted to announce today that a pair of WHITE-TAILED EAGLES have nested on Bushy Island Lough Derg. These birds and another pair have been on Lough Derg for well over a year now. The birds have been monitored for the past month where both the female and male bird have been incubating eggs. It has been over 110 years since this species last nested in Ireland and these two birds from the re-introduced population in Kerry are the first to successfully nest in Ireland. We do ask that people going to view the birds do not go near the island in boats or pleasure craft as the birds might abandon the eggs at this early stage. Best viewing is from Mount Shannon Pier where wardens will be on hand to show you the birds through a telescope.
One Long-eared Owl was at Darragh.
