There was a Pectoral Sandpiper (Tom Tarpey) at the Coonagh Lagoons today. This is the second record for the site and the fourth for the County. Also present were two Snipe, a Black-tailed Godwit, a Sedge Warbler, 40 Tufted Duck, 13 Pochard, 15 Mallard, five Teal, five Wigeon, 15 Little Grebes, two Little Egrets, 100 Coots and seven Mute Swans.

A flock of 32 Crossbills were at Gortcoirce, Dysert.
One Wheatear was at the Shannon Airport Lagoon.
One Jay was at Darragh.

The Pectoral Sandpiper was still in a flooded field mid way between Quilty and Doonbeg.
One juvenile Black Tern and an adult Ring-billed Gull were at the mouth of the Skivileen River near Doughmore.
One Common Sandpiper was at Doonbeg Lough.

A juvenile Blue winged Teal was at the small pond at Fodry Loop Head this afternoon (Dave McNamara).
Also at Loop Head was one Snow Bunting.
A Pectoral Sandpiper was at a flooded field on the outskirts of Quilty.
One Great Shearwater and 48 Sabine’s Gulls, four adult Pomarine Skuas, one juvenile Long-tailed Skua, 15 Bonxies, 10 Arctic Skuas, 53 Sooty Shearwaters, 28 Manx Shearwaters, 200+ Arctic Terns, 2 Red-throated Divers and 3 Common Scoter were at the Bridges of Ross.
There were four Ruff at Kilkee golf course.
Three Curlew Sandpipers were at Rinevella Bay.
Two juvenile Sabine’s Gulls were in the bay off Killard, Doonbeg, with 80+ Arctic Terns.

There were 11 Sabine’s Gulls and one Arctic Skua off the Bridges of Ross.
Two Curlew Sandpipers, 15 Sandwich Tern and eight Arctic Terns were at Liscannor harbour.
Three Curlew Sandpiper , 50+ roosting Curlew , one Raven , three Bar-tailed Godwit were at Clahane.

Little Gull at Loughill (Tom Tarpey)

A juvenile Little Gull and a Little Egret were at Loughill.
A Curlew Sandpiper, 30 Dunlin, 50 Ringed Plover, 50 Redshank, five Greenshank and a Little Egret were at Kilteery Pier.
Four Curlew Sandpipers and a second winter Mediterranean Gull were in Tarbert Bay.

An Osprey was seen in Tarbert Bay during the Branch outing (D Farrer, M Turner et al). This is the second record of the species for the County, the first being at Castleconnell in 1864. A Curlew Sandpiper, 42 Knot, a Dunlin, 17 Greenshank, 60 Redshank, 20 Ringed Plover, seven Sanderling, 38 Black-tailed Godwits, four Bar-tailed Godwits, 32 Curlew, ten Little Egrets and 120 Teal were also seen during the outing.
A Whimbrel and a Litte Egret were at Ringmoylan.
A Buzzard was head calling at Ballysteen.
Two Litte Egrets were at Beagh Castle.

First-winter Common Rosefinch at Kilbaha © Richard Bonser

A first-winter Common Rosefinch has turned up this morning at Walshe’s haggard, Loop Head (Niall T Keogh, Richard Bonser et al).
Two Lapland Buntings were at Loop Head Lighthouse along with nine Buff-breasted Sandpipers.
At the Bridges of Ross there were two Wilson’s Storm Petrels @ 09:05 (Eanna O’Flynn, Mark Stewart & Conor Foley) & @ 11:20 (Tom Tarpey). Also at the bridges were 16 Long-tailed Skuas, 170 Sabine’s Gulls, five Sooty Shearwaters one Leach’s Petrel, eight Storm Petrels, 19 Grey Phalaropes, 54 Great Skuas (Bonxie), two Pomarine Skuas, 37 Arctic, two juvenile Little Gulls, 12 Sandwich Terns, 500 Arctic Terns, 11 Puffins, two Common Scoters, seven Red-throated Divers and one Great Northern Diver. There were also six Bottlenose Dolphins and
one Sunfish.
A juvenile Blue-winged Teal was at the Shannon Airport Lagoon (Owen Foley & Richard Bonser).
At Kilcredaun Bay, there were 5 juvenile Curlew Sandpipers.
At Liscannot, there was a 1st-winter Mediterranean Gull and 4 juvenile Curlew Sandpipers.
Six Crossbills were at Gortcoirce, Dysert.
Two Ruff, 164 Curlew, ten Wigeon and ten Black-tailed Godwits were at Lough Atedaun.

Today at the Bridges of Ross there was one Wilson’s Storm Petrel (Niall T Keogh), 865 plus Sabine’s Gulls, 76 Long-tailed Skuas, three Balearic Shearwaters, 145 Sooty Shearwaters, 10,000 Manx Shearwaters, 38 Leach’s Petrel, 16 Storm Petrels, 47 Great Skuas, three Pomarine Skuas, 150 plus Arctic Skuas, 26 juvenile Black Terns, 45 Sandwich Terns, one juvenile Common Tern, 8,000 Arctic Terns, 62 Puffins, six Common Scoters, 15 Rd-throated Divers and 130 Grey Phalaropes. There were also one Bottlenose Dolphin, five Common Dolphins and three Sunfish.
