A seawatch at the Bridges of Ross between 06.30-19.30 produced seven Long-tailed Skua,(six juveniles), three Wilson’s Storm Petrel, 41 Leach’s Petrel, 19 Sabine’s Gull, 53 Grey Phalarope, two Pomarine Skua, 97 Cory’s Shearwater, three Great Shearwater, 37 Sooty Shearwater, one juvenile Little Gull, 14 Arctic Tern, 47 Sandwich Tern, 29 Great Skua and 59 Arctic Skua.(B. At the Bridges between (06:30-13:30) there was one Wilsons Petrel, six Leach’s Petrels, 30 Storm Petrels, 25 Great Shearwater, 500 Sooty Shearwater, 300 Cory’s Shearwater, three Sabines Gulls (all juvs), eight Grey Phalarope, one Pomarine Skua, seven Bonxies, 15 Arctic Skua, one Puffin, seven Arctic Terns, 30 Sandwich Terns, four Red-throated Divers and ten Common Scoter. Off Ross Ringing Station between (13.00-17.00) there was one Fea’s Petrel (14.08), five Wilson’s Storm Petrels, 11 Leach’s Petrel, 16 European Storm Petrels, 158 Cory’s Shearwaters, 174 Sooty Shearwaters, five Bonxies, two Arctic Skuas two Red-throated Divers, two Common Scoter, six Sandwich Terns and three Arctic Terns. A seawatch at the Bridges of Ross between 07.10-15.25 produced four Great skua, eight Arctic Skua, 20 Storm Petrel, two Leach’s Petrel, 15 Grey Phalarope, three Sabine’s Gull, 18 Cory’s Shearwater, 100 Sooty Shearwater, one Curlew Sandpiper and one Black Guillemot.(Don Pointon)
There were four Curlew Sandpiper, including one ringed in Norway (Yellow flag coded AVN right tibia, Red ring left tibia). This Nowegian Curlew Sandpiper was ringed as a passage migrant on Giske Island on the west coast of Norway on 26/8/26. The site is about 240km north of Bergen and 1411km northeast of Seafield. Also at Seafield were 198 Sanderling, 133 Ringed Plover, 74 Oystercatchers, 53 Dunlin, six Bar-tailed Godwits, 15 Turnstone, a Knot, a Greenshank, a Curlew and seven Sandwich Tern at Seafield.(TT)

Leach’s Petrel off Ross Ringing Station today John N Murphy
Between the Bridges of Ross and Ross Ringing Station today (06:40-19:40) one adult Long-tailed Skua, 12 Wilson’s Storm Petrels, 152 Leach’s Storm Petrel, 24 Sabine’s Gulls, 2,732 Cory’s Shearwater, 1,226 Sooty Shearwater, 63 Great Shearwater, 12 Pomarine Skua, 79 Bonxies, 70 Arctic Skua, 24 Grey Phalarope, one juvenile Little Gull, eight European Storm Petrel, 64 Arctic Tern and 65 Sandwich Tern. At the Fodry, Loop Head there were nine Golden Plover, five Wheatear and a Peregrine Falcon.(JNM)
