Marsh Harrier at Coonagh ©Tom Tarpey

Two Marsh Harriers and a Buzzard were seen at Bunlicky today in the early afternoon (Tom Tarpey). One of the Marsh Harriers had earlier passed through the Coonagh Nature Reserve before crossing the Shannon southwards to Bunlicky.
Single Marsh Harriers were also seen at Coonagh in the mid afternoon (Maura Turner) and evening (Jane & Ger Griffin). Two Sparrowhawks, a Kestrel, two Little Egrets (one adult & one juvenile), 13 Gadwall, two Wigeon, 12 Tufted Duck and a Snipe were also seen at Coonagh.

A Buzzard was seen near the N21 at Ballybronoge, Patrickswell this morning (Andrew Holmes).

Tuesday 1st September 2015

A Buzzard was seen flying over the M7 at Rathbane, just south of Limerick City, this evening.
A Commom Sandpiper and two Little Egrets were at Poulaweela Creek.
A Little Egret was at Askeaton (TT).

A Buzzard was seen at Kilmeedy today (Andrew Holmes).
Two Garganey, 15 Gadwall and 38 Tufted wear at Coonagh (TT).
A large flock of 279 Lesser Black-backed Gulls was roosting at Lough Gur (Tony Mee).

Saturday 29th August 2015

A sub-adult Marsh Harrier, two Kestrels, a Sparrowhawk, two eclipse drake Garganey, 15 Gadwall, a Shoveler and a Wigeon, a Greenshank and a Little Egre were seen at Coonagh in the early afternoon (Tom Tarpey). The Marsh Harrier was also seen hunting in the Reserve for 20 mins. in the evening, when a Greenshank and a Little Egret were also present(Maura Turner).

Thursday 27th August 2015

A juvenile Osprey was seen flying southwards over Sugar Hill today (Brian Porter). This is the third record for the County, the previous ones being on 17/9/2011 at Trabert Bay and in 1864 at Castleconnell.

Monday 24th August 2015

Two Garganey, 12 Gadwall, two Shoveler, 10 Mallard, 37 Tufted Duck, a Pochard, four Swift and a Raven were at the Coonagh Nature Reserve this evening.

Friday 21st August 2015

A sub-adult Marsh Harrier was seen this evening at the Coonagh Nature Reserve (Tom Tarpey). The bird was present for at least 20 mins, hunting around the upper lagoon, before it moved off down river towards Cratloe. A pair of Garganey in eclipse plumage were also present along with 16 Gadwall, two Shoveler, five Pochard and 20 Tufted Duck.

Saturday 15th August 2015

A pair of Buzzards and two Water Rails were at Doohyle Lough (Geoff Hunt).

Nine Whimbrel, 39 Redshank, four Greenshank, 105 Curlew,  a Knot, a Little Egret and a Great-crested Grebe were at Loughill. There were 119 Redshank, 18 Greenshank, 46 Curlew and four Little Egrets at the evening high tide roost at Robertstown.
