A seawatch at the Bridges of Ross between 06.15-18.45 produced one Balearic Shearwater, 182 Cory’s Shearwater, 28 Great Shearwater, 36 Sooty Shearwater, 9500 Manx Shearwater, three Wilson’s Storm-petrel,(one on show, close to shore for over half an hour), 41 Leach’s Storm-petrel, 25 Storm-petrel, 129 Sabine’s Gull(including 26 juveniles), one Little Gull(1cy) 40 Long-tailed Skua, 6 Pomarine Skua(light morph adults), 37 Arctic Skua(26 dark/5 light/6 jugs), 4 Great Skua, one juvenile Black Tern, over 160 Arctic Tern, three Common Tern, over 110 Sandwich Tern, nine Grey Phalarope, two Common Scoter and 21 Whimbrel.(Noel Keogh plus 18 observers)

There were three juvenile Sabine’s Gull, one Mediterranean Gull, two Common Tern and 30 Bar-tailed Godwit at Quilty Beach.(Jeff Copner)

A seawatch at the Bridges of Ross between 06.45-18.45 produced 381 Sabine’s Gull, two Wilson’s Petrel, four Leach’s Petrel, 20 Storm Petrel, eight Grey Phalarope, ten Arctic Skua, three Pomarine Skua, nine Great Skua, 26 Arctic Tern, 48 Sooty Shearwater, 1395 Great Shearwater, counted in three and a half hours in the afternoon but there was good passage all day, 742 Cory’s Shearwater, this afternoon, although there was passage all day. There were four Sabine’s Gull off Seafield, Quilty. Also 16 Sandwich Tern flying south, being chased by an Arctic Skua. Other birds of note in the area were one Pomarine Skua, hundreds of Manx Shearwater in the distance and 100 Ringed Plover.(Geoff Pearson)

A seawatch at the Bridges of Ross between 06.15-18.00 produced 3000 Cory’s Shearwater, 500 Great Shearwater, 35 Sooty Shearwater, 184 Sabine’s Gull, 13 Great Skua, six Arctic Skua, nine Pomarine Skua, one Long-tailed Skua, 11 Storm Petrel, one Leach’s Petrel, 27 Arctic Tern, 13 Sandwich Tern, 11 Common Scoter, two Puffin, two Grey Phalarope, two Whimbrel, four Kittiwake and up to 2500 Manx Shearwater per hour at 17.00. At the Fodry, Loop Head between 07.10-15.40 there were 215 Sabine’s Gull( including several double-figured flocks, max c.22), a large Shearwater passage, constant throughout, mostly mid-distance, typically c.750 to 1000 per hour, approx 5000 Cory’s, 2600 Great Shearwater plus 15 Sooty Shearwater. Also one Leach’s Petrel, seven Pomarine Skua, seven Great Skua and seven Arctic Skua.(Paul Troake, Geoff Pearson)
